Hotel near LAX?

The best flights I can get from Rochester, NY area seem to get me at LAX late at night. I was thinking we wouldn't want to try driving a rental car so late in a unfamiliar area. Can anyone recommend an economical hotel near the airport and then we could rent a car in the morning. Or, do you think it would be better to take the shuttle to DL and then rent a car in Anaheim for the rest of our trip after DL? We are going to Yosemite and Grand Canyon and leaving via Vegas?

I would stay near LAX. If you want to rent a car drive at night. It's not too tough and will be much easier at night than in traffic in the morning.

But if she shuttle is cheaper, then take it. A rental is almost 100% likely to sit at your hotel the whole time while at DLR if you can walk to the parks.
