Anyone recommend a clean & reasonably priced hotel to stay at for Thanksgiving night? We are checking into AKV-Jambo on Friday morning but we will get into Orlando on Thanksgiving. We plan on doing T-Day dinner somewhere on property (probably Boma) so we don't want to be too far away. We also plan on checking into AKV very early on Fri morn so we can get to a park and just have a our villa ready when we get back.

I thought about just staying at AKV with a cash reservation but I'm not paying Disney's outrageous prices LOL!

A good reference for this might be the Disboards disney cruise line threads - many people fly into Orlando the night before the cruise and often post some amazing deals for the area, including breakfast, shuttles etc. There are suggestions about using various discount travel websites on how to get a good deal and how suitable the properties are. We stayed at the Hyatt at the airport once using that board's instructions for $79 thru Hotwire.

I think this was the thread -

Last year, we stayed at Orlando Vista Hotel. The address is 12490 S Apopka Vineland Rd, Orlando, FL 32836. It's a little over 7 miles from Animal Kingdom Villas. We got it for $45 through kayak.com. It was a great deal, and an ok place for just one night. We got there around 7:00 at night, got up and ate their continental breakfast, headed to AKV to check in, then went to a park. Since it's Thanksgiving though, you may want to stay somewhere a little nicer. Maybe try priceline and choose a 3- or 4-star hotel near Downtown Disney?

I stumbled upon a quick exit to (192) W. Irlo Bronson Hwy (my garmin pulled it up) If memory serves me make a right at first stop sign as you leave AKL. When you look at google maps it just looks like a service road but it runs right out to 192 at Black Lake Rd. Google maps won't give you directions that way. You are looking at 5 minutes to get to hotels. The Maingate Ramada is 50-60 bucks and is good for a night. There is also a Clarion Suites there nearby as well as others nearby. This area will be the closest to AK. There are other "resorts" near there as well but just be careful of resort fees that can add $20+ per night. I've done the same thing and stayed cheap the first night to get that extra night on the backend. It really works when you arrive on a Friday or Saturday and stay at a local hotel for a night and save the more expensive points especially if you arrive late in the day.

Baymount Inn and Suites is like 5 mintues from AKV. Take Sherberth Rd and turn right onto Blacklake Rd. which is like 200 feet from the traffic light for 192 & Sherberth. The Inn is on the right side and McD's is on the left. And if you drive to the end of the Black Lake road and make a right at the traffic light and go to the first traffic light and make a left there is a Super Target

This looks like a great place to stay. Thanks!

We've stayed at Caribe Royale before - nice enough and cheaper than those late arrivals.
