Anyone ever stayed in Ocala, Fl? Thinking of staying there overnight for just one night before arriving at Disney the next day. Tips, advice?

I stayed at a La Quinta on 36th Ave. a few years ago when I was driving from Virginia to Naples. It was okay. Not the nicest area. Personally I'd head further south.

Well, much further south and I would be at Disney. I looked at the Hampton Inn and Suites. Looks nice. Its about 1.5 hours away. I figure we leave around 6:30 after eating the continental breakfast and get there by 8:30 to check in and hop on the monorail to the MK.

I realize that. Just not somewhere I would voluntarily stay again. Much better options around Orlando.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in right off I75 in Ocala two weeks ago. It was nice, nothing special, but suitable for one night. We didn't want to have to navigate Orlando traffic late at night, but also didn't want a long drive the following morning. Worked for us.

i've stayed many times.
we stay in the best western.
its right next to what used to be the disney world welcome center.
its also next to a cracker barrel.
there's a pool and hot tub and i believe they offer breakfast.
we've always enjoyed it there.
we even met a family in that cracker barrel that became life long friends of ours.

Was the breakfast ok?

Ocala is fairly large and diverse, the area you are looking at off exit 350(FL200) is fine and quite safe. You have several choices of hotels right there. Do not go to the next exit south and stay the night. My parents live in Ocala, I used to love going to the Disney Welcome center there.
