Hotel in New York

I am presently trying to decide whether to stay at the Marriott Hotel at Times Square or the Double Tree Guest Suites. I have previously stayed at the Marriott and it was excellent with location etc. However this time I am travelling with my sister and nephew and thought we may like the extra room of Double Tree.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend one over the other?? Is Doubletree as good as everyone says for location, room sizes etc etc??

I haven't stayed at the Marriott so I can not compare.

I can say that we loved our 7 nights at the Doubletree. I'm a bit of a hotel snob and to be honest had never stayed in a hotel less than 4 stars so I wasn't sure we would like it. We loved it! I would not hesitate to stay there again. The location was awesome. The concierge were great, I went to them for help and directions a few times. Front desk were lovely. Housekeeping did a great job (particularly when I called them after dropping a whole box of cupcakes, upside down on the carpet, creating a rather large icing mess on the carpet ). We were in the room once and the housekeeper made a call and it was time for a shower curtain change The one that was there looked fine to me.

The size of the room was great (we had a suite with two queens), very clean. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was nice. Bell desk were great (they accepted my grocery delivery from Wholefoods and delivered it to our room).

Not one complaint from the week there.

We stayed at doubletree and yes it was thumbs up from us too

With 5 we found the 2 double beds in one room plus the comfortable pull out sofa in the main room spacious. It also had a kitchenette and table and chairs.

Location was first class

I know you weren't asking for any other hotel recommendations but I thought I would mention that the Hilton New York has a room with the 2 doubles in one and a sofa bed in a living area, similar to Doubletree and it is usually quite a bit cheaper.

I have stayed at the Hilton in a normal 2 doubles room and it was lovely but I have not been inside the 2 room suite.
