Has anyone gone from an offsite hotel to an onsite? We REALLY want to stay at a monorail resort for the majority of our stay but it's not in our budget. I thought it might work out if we stayed at a cheapo econolodge or something for the first two nights and then moved over to a deluxe resort.
I'd love tips on doing this...
Thanks,
Diana

On our recent trip in June, we started out our trip at a "cheapo" offsite hotel before we checked in at our DVC resort. It felt like such a waste of time & money b/c all we seemed to do was wish the time away until we could really start our vacation. I think in the future we will either shorten our vacation by a day & get the accomodations we want, or use a code & at least stay at a value or moderate resort on Disney property (we've done this, too, & while changing is always a pain, at least you're "in Disney Magic" & they will transport your luggage from one resort to the next if you're switching).

This is just our opinion--I'm sure there's lots more out there. Regardless...Enjoy your trip!!

Depending on when you are going, you may be able to get a value resort for $49 or $59/night with a discount code. Maybe you could spend your first couple of nights there & then have Disney move your luggage to a monorail resort. A wing room at the Contemporary may be the most affordable; I was quoted (with AP discount during value season) ~$149/night.
