Hi guys,

panic stations here all of a sudden - my friend Laura and her family just booked their hotel at the weekend for the same dates we're going (5 of us so far, should be 8 in total) and she was told Cheyenne is booked up! from the 14-17th January...?! So she went for Santa Fe.

I'm rather worried now as I had assumed we could wait til October time to book up, but for Sequoia Lodge to secure 2 rooms I will need to pay 100 quid deposit...

I wonder - would you recommend a different hotel for 8 of us? Bearing in mind we are not planning on hiring a rental car and don't really want to do the whole self catering thing...though we'd just eat at restaurants anyway!

I just wondered as checking online there are some 'close to the magic' hotels that are more expensive than the Disney ones? Such as the Kyriad and My Travel Explorer one?

What would you do in my situation? I'm going to call Disney tonight to see what they say, and I could pay the 100 quid deposity for 2 rooms so that I only have a little more to pay for my share for 3 nights...as it would be complicated getting money off of everyone just to pay it on my credit card!

So, the options are

- book 2 rooms at Sequoia and pay up in October
- hold off and maybe go for a 'close to the magic' hotel, which may work out cheaper, i have no idea...
- just wait until September to book Sequoia...

- OR whatever you guys tell me! :rotfl:

HELP!

We have stayed at both Explorers and Holiday Inn and they are both reasonably priced- probably works out about the same as Santa Fe/Cheyenne but for better start rated hotel. They were both very close to the parks (shuttle bus) and I didnt feel as though we were away from the magic as they are both themed and have Dis shop in them.
Is that round the date Tower of Terror is due to open? Is that why its so busy?

The Kyriad is a nice hotel. I would probably stay here if I were an AP holder.

Remember the Disney Hotels if booked through Disney include your park passes. Also the Santa Fe & Cheyenne tend to get booked up first anyway.

We have stayed at The Holiday Inn once and many a time in The Explorers and they are a good cheaper option. I would of thought that January would have been a quieter time of year so I would imagine if you really wanted SL is will still be available :thumbsup2

thanks for all your help guys!!

we decided to go for sequoia lodge as we really wanted to be close to disney village and the parks, and because there are 6 of us going, we wanted 1 of us (ie, me!) to be familiar with what was going on...

soooo, i put the deposit down for the Sequoia Lodge, 81 quid for 2 rooms and the balance to be paid by november :) now we can start looking forward to it...and, er, think about how we are going to get to Glasgow Prestwick airport with none of us driving.....!! Limo, anyone...?!

Train or hired mini-bus might be the way to go :)
