Hi to all

My 2 DDs and I have decided to head to NYC to see the new performance of Grease in August.:thumbsup2

We only have 1 night and 2 full days to stay......I am looking for suggestions on hotels - location and more importantly pricing!! Well safety for 3 females as well:goodvibes

Any suggestions - should I stay in Manhattan or over on the Jersey side.

We are hoping to get in 2 plays and some shopping.....quick trip:yay:

Thanks for all your help!!

Have a Magical Disney Day!!

I agree. The Marriott Marquis is a great place to stay. You are in the heart of the theatre district.

We like to get the Times Square view rooms. It is amazing how that city never sleep.

I have stayed at the New York Hilton, the Times Square Hilton, and the Sheraton NY and Towers, and liked all of them. I've also stayed at the Doubletree Guest Suites, which is a fantastic hotel as well. Good hotels in New York are expensive--expect to spend about $300 to stay at a good name brand hotel.

If there were only two of you, I would have suggested trying priceline. I was able to get a room at the Sheraton NY by bidding $120. It wound up costing me about $150 with the taxes and fees. But they usually give you a king sized bed when you get a room through priceline in NY (although you can usually get a rollaway for the third person).

Since you are only staying for one night, I would splurge and stay right in the city. It won't be cheap, but it is great to be within walking distance of every place.

.....are the Westin Times Square(Heavenly Bed/bath), The Milford, the Flatotel,
or the Marquis. They are all in midtown and walking distance to theatres.
Nothing is cheap. Have a blast. :thumbsup2

We've stayed at the Marriott Courtyard for $209.00. I was surprised at how nice it actually was.

DH and I are going to go see Grease is August, too! I posted a question the other day about staying at the Reniassance New York Times Square, but didn't get much response. The Marriot Marquis is one we are considering, too. Anyone have any experience with teh Reniassance? This would be a big "splurge" trip for us. We'll be staying two nights and basically want to shop and see Grease.

OP--when are you planning on seeing Grease? Maybe we'll be there at the same time! We are planning on the 4th right now.

Thank you!! - Giving it a bump for the day Disers.....

Another one here going to see Grease in August! We've got tickets for August 29th.

My husband, DD16, and I are staying at the Sheraton Suites on the New Jersey side. Bigger room and much less expensive. We plan on taking the ferry back and forth. The savings on parking alone is worth it.

I'm also going down to NYC in June, and like you OP, it will be a girl's only trip, and safety was a concern. We're staying in NYC, at the Sheraton Towers. My daughter and a friend are attending a dance convention and it's being held at the Sheraton, so we got a discounted rate of $229. a night. I think normally their rooms are around $269.

I have stayed at the Renaissance twice. Very nice hotel. They just got done with a remodel and it was great before.

I've stayed at the Reniassance twice. Great rooms, great staff. I had the same front desk clerk check me in both times. The desk clerk greeted me by name the second time as soon as I got off the elevator. How he did that, I just don't know.

Oh, and just one more thought on New York. I find you definitely get what you pay for there. One time, we booked a room at a Best Western because it was cheap (around $129 for a room with two twin beds). We got a room with bars on the windows, a door lock that would work (and couldn't get them to fix), and a shower stall that overflowed.

We like the Embassy Suites - New York that's down in the financial district. it's not in the center of the action (which is probably why we like it), but it's a 5 minute subway/cab ride. The Embassy Suites has a manager's reception every night with free appetizers and 2 drink coupons and also a made to order breakfast every morning included in the price. The rooms have a king size bed or two double beds as well as a pull out queen couch. We've also stayed at the Doubletree - Times Square (also very nice), the Wellington (Yuck!) and the Skyline Hotel on the upper west side (nice hotel, bad service)
