Hotel help appreciated

Hi Princess it's Dodger,
Did you have a chance to call the Eden Roc Hotel And Suites and find out what deals they are running for August today? I am curious to know since I recommended that hotel for you yesterday
Hi! I didn’t call the Eden Roc, but I looked into your suggestion for Home2 Suites, and I think that’s the one I’m going to book. Thank you for putting it on my radar!

You're welcome Princess and have a great trip to Disneyland and let me know how your trip is. And one last thing when you are planning your next trip anywhere when you choose a hotel always read Yelp reviews first before you decide to book any hotel

I am ordering a mattress topper and having it delivered to the hotel to put on the pullout sofa for the kids.
Before ordering a topper, call them and ask if they already have them.

Many hotels/nicer motels do have them, but reserve them for guests that ask for them.

When you call, if they say they have toppers, ask if they’ve ever run out of them? When they first tell you they have them, they’ll probably state something like “first come, first served” or “subject to availability” etc.
But to get a better sense of whether you’re likely to get one, you need to ask the question above.

Have a magical trip! :smickey:

I can call back and ask but I don’t have high hopes. Only because when I asked if I could have a mattress topper delivered and explained why (the pullout being horribly uncomfortable), they didn’t say anything about toppers they have. I’d think they wouldn’t that point in the call. But I will call and ask for sure…

Yeah, seems like they’d say something. But who knows, maybe you got a clerk that only answers questions that are asked without volunteering any other info. :confused3

Another quick tip… depending on how tall the people sleeping on it are, it might be more comfortable if they sleep on it sideways— basically turned 90° from the normal way you’d think to sleep. This only works for people under 60-65” tall.

And going along with that ^, you can get a few extra inches of space by pushing the sofa to a corner. Then, when you remove the seat cushions from couch to pull the bed out, use the cushions to fill in the space between the mattress and the wall. If need be, you can also use rolled up towels or a blanket to fill in the remainder of the gap. That’s where you’ll put the pillows, using the wall as your “headboard”. It gives you another 3-5” depending on how wide the sofa arm is… it’s not a lot, but it could be just enough to keep a kid’s feet from hanging off the edge.

excellent tips! Thank you so much. They are both under 63"...

You've definitely done this before ;-)

I prefer the BW Park Place to Park Vue.
I have stayed frequently at both locations .
I almost wish DVC would use their floor plan for the DVC Studio !
They have guaranteed adjoining rooms also for one trip visit with extended family .
I just saw a brochure for the Grand Legacy a few doors down with upper level Rooftop Bar to view fireworks…Might have to check their rooms out.
I did go up to the rooftop bar during daytime .They monitor elevator access for guests at night . But the view would be perfect for watching fireworks.

Also try requesting the monorail view for the BW Park Place and they AAA have discount, extra fees for auto parking also monitored!

As the parent of the teenage girl, I have total empathy for the sink outside of toilet/shower area criteria. Even a mirror/vanity is helpful. When I've traveled with friends that only have boys, they totally don't get why this is relevant (although I find it helpful even to enable one person to brush teeth while another person uses the bathroom, which is where a kitchenette is helpful even if it doesn't have a mirror).

With that said, if the mirror is a potentially waivable criteria, I'd point you to the Element hotel as another option:
https://www.getawaytoday.com/hotels/disneyland-resort/element-anaheim-resort-convention-center

The rooms are all large, it is a newer hotel with much more of a vacation vibe (though the pool is subpar), the breakfast is great, some of the rooms have theme-park views.

Thank you! I’m going to have a look at the Element too. I did go ahead and book Home2Suites, but I’m still checking out other possibilities. H2S doesn’t have a separate sink and vanity area, but there’s a kitchen sink, and a large mirror by the couch that I am hoping will be sufficient. I have wild (and possibly unrealistic) hopes that they will actually be up and ready for rope drop, like they were when all we needed to do was brush their teeth and pull a princess dress over their little heads… 🩷

Travelling with teen girls is a thing. Before 2020, I never thought about bathrooms and mirrors, and then when we took another big family trip a few years later in 2023, I learned very quickly that we had entered a whole new world. They sure are cute, though. 😂

I’d you have a car, home2suites is valet only. Just an fyi. We loved our room that hotel. ☺️

Since everyone here is so nice and helpful I'm going to tag onto this thread instead of making a new one. I'm going to possibly be needing a room for a week, by myself so a suite is overkill. I need safe and walkable for food and parks. Breakfast is a bonus but not mandatory. Clean and safe are the biggest priority for me. Thanks so much

I would say Park Vue or candy cane. Candy cane has breakfast. Park Vue doesn’t. Park Vue is right at the crosswalk on harbor. And candy cane is is walkable and also has a free dedicated shuttle. ☺️

Thank you! I’m glad to know you enjoyed it, hearing good things is reassuring. We are flying in from Canada, so we won’t need to park a car. That would definitely make a difference at $40 a day!

Sorry if I share something already posted. It's late and I don't have as much time to read the threads as I would like.

One item of note - I've found priceline.com is more friendly when it comes to searching for larger room options that sleep more than 4 people.

To save some $$$ or get nicer room options on a budget consider going down the road and staying next to the Toy Story lot. You can easily walk to that bus depot there and it's a quick ride to the parks. It's been a while since we did that option but they even pre-clear you though security at peek periods in the AM which is nice (I'd confirm if they still do this). That could open up a few more options on your list if you are willing to have a more WDW like experience and bus into the parks :)

Looking for hotel advice…

I’m planning a five or six night visit during the last week of August, two adults, two teen girls (and possibly a third young adult teen, if his work schedule permits.) It’s our first visit since 2019, and with a painful exchange rate on the Canadian dollar, I’m trying to keep the hotel budget tight while still staying quite close to the parks. We like to take afternoon breaks to recharge!

Places we stayed in the past (with younger kids), were the Sheraton Park, Hojo and the Fairfield Marriott. Sheraton was nice, but don’t want the longer walk. Loved the walking distance for Fairfield, but the room was quite small. Hojo was good but that’s about the farthest I’d want to walk for afternoon breaks.

My ideal room would be a bit larger than average, have a mirrored space/sink to get ready outside the bathroom (teen girls 😂), sleeping space for five in case our son can join us, clean and comfortable, close to affordable restaurants, and with a nice vacation-y vibe and pool. I’d like to keep it close to 200 USD a night. Breakfast is a plus but not necessary.

The places I’m looking at, and what I’m wondering about each:

The Anaheim Hotel (checks lots of boxes, but worried it might feel too run down to feel relaxing?)

The Camelot (vacation vibes or no?)

The Park Vue Inn (looks like a fresh reno? How’s the pool?)

The Holiday Inn Express on Manchester (this would be my first choice except for the distance. It looks nice and new, with pool, breakfast and restaurant/lounge, but is the walk too far for easy back and forth?)

The Hojo (price is a little high)

I’m grateful for any opinions or recent experiences that might help me narrow this down. Or maybe there’s a place I haven’t considered, that I should? Huge thanks!
I know I'm a little late, but just wanted to suggest Anaheim Majestic Garden. It's become our family's favorite. Rooms are usually in the $140-180 range. It's not within walking distance to the parks *however* they have their own free, dedicated shuttle that runs about every 30 minutes (hourly at like 1pm-4pm, and more often in the early morning and near closing). When I did a Google Maps distance thingy, it's usually a shorter walk from my room to the shuttle and then from the shuttle to the main gates, than from many of the motels you listed. The rooms are large for hotel rooms, typically 400+ sq/ft. Seriously haven't seen other 2-queen rooms that are as large as those at Majestic. Comfy beds. It's a hotel (so indoor corridors). Multiple restaurants on site along with a convenience store that has grab-n-go options. Not free, but quick to grab on the way to the shuttle in the morning. When you check in, they give you a coupon for some percentage off at the restaurants. I usually go to their main restaurant on my arrival day, and they have a small buffet for under $20 (it seems like was around $15 maybe?). It *definitely* has the resort feel, as it is on a large property. The pool isn't in a parking lot like many places on Harbor. There's lush areas to walk around. Last trip they upgraded my room so I had a second door that went into one of their courtyards. When I left that door open one morning, I had "room ducks"-- the ducks felt at home enough to walk right into my room, LOL.

Like I said, it's become our family's favorite place. It definitely leaves us feeling like we are on a getaway when we're there :)

I have to drag my 16-year old out of bed for summer swim practice at 7 am, but for Disneyland she will practice her hair and make up routine ahead of the trip to determine how much time she needs for each "look" she plans, set her alarm for 5:45-6:00 am, and be up before me getting ready so her look is perfect for our "fit check" walking to security at 7:15. Meanwhile, my 14-year old son sleeps in the clothes he will wear for the day, rolls out of bed at 7:00, brushes his teeth and grabs a cup of Froot Loops for breakfast on the go :P . Same planet, different worlds. Home2Suites is great also and a slightly shorter walk. We stayed there when they had just opened (the pool wasn't even done yet) and had a good experience.

If you don’t care about breakfast, or would prefer to eat in the parks. Then just keep it simple and stay right across the street.
I’ve stayed at the Tropicana by myself and felt very safe. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. They also own the Camelot inn and that’s another one that would be fine.

Also look into the Park Vue inn
The best Western Park place inn, and the best Western plus Anaheim Inn

My favorite right now (balance of value, safety, comfort, proximity, cleanliness, etc) is the Fairfield Anaheim. They have the best beds of the Harbor hotels of similar prices, great internet, spacious rooms. It’s a few minutes further walk than the BWs and Tropicana for example but still very safe and the step up in comfort imo. I felt the guests were quieter too, than at the hotels immediately across from the entrance. I stopped staying at the BWPPI because of the beds and the Tropicana beds were awful in April. I just got back from a Fairfield stay and the beds were great and the thermostat kept the room at a constant temp which is not always easy in those old motel rooms.

I like the Hojo too (building 1) but it’s a bit further and not usually cheaper. Hyatt House and Wyndham Anaheim are my other favorites if I don’t mind a longer walk (good for short trips where I don’t plan to take a break midday), so I wouldn’t recommend for a week long trip but good to keep in mind for the future.

Hey Princess,

We're Holiday Inn Express on Manchester people. We're going back at the end of the month for the 4th visit in 4 years and staying once again here. It's affordable, clean, good staff and a 7 minute walk to the entrance. The breakfast is a hotel breakfast, nothing fancy but it a solid start to the morning before rope dropping.

We take a day off and typically will walk over to Mimi's for lunch and chill out back and the room to recover and hit the hot tub.

Obviously there are a number of great options on Harbor but we haven't had any complains here.
