Hi All, Back in July (I think), I booked our stay at Hotel New York on the 2 days/2 night free offer for our stay in December. This booking was also just for 1 adult (the other 3 people have been added on a bed/breakfast/annual pass basis). Now discussion with the family they'd like to actually stay instead at Sequoia, so it looks like I've a discussion with Disney tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone has done anything similar, or/and has any advice on downgrading bookings, especially given that the offer under which it was book as long finished. Thank you Iain

This is EXACTLY what we have booked (HNY, one person, 2 days/2 night free offer in December) and having just returned from a wonderful stay at the SL we have been wondering just the same thing!!!

The trouble is that pricing it up now, our discounted booked trip is much cheaper than what we would have to pay for the same time in a Golden Forest room which is what we would like. :(

They will let you change your booking, but you will have to pay the current offer price for it. I would stick with HNY and enjoy the lovely hot breakfast. You could always go to SL for a drink in the bar in the evening. :thumbsup2

Oh please don't do it. The HNY is lovely.
I stayed at SL many years ago and loved it. I told my husband that we must visit it for a drink in the bar when we were in Dis the other week. Wow how had it changed, so noisy teenagers running around, messy and so man with his shoes off and feet up on the coffee table. We walk out and went back to the HNY bar (a little haven of calm)
I'm so pleased we id this as if ever I went for xmas this is where I would have booked, would definitely not now

All seemed calm in the SL bar last week when we were there... and a lovely blazing log fire too. BUT, I do like the Manhatten restaurant and I keep telling myself we will appreciate the shorter walk back when it is freezing cold and/or wet! :thumbsup2

We've done both & I must say I also prefer the calm of HNY. Breakfast was a joy, no queues or scrums around the food.

I downgraded from HNY to Cheyenne sons decided they didnt want to share a bed ! But i have a feeling it was under the same offer, i know i wasnt charged anything for changing.
Have to agree with others though HNY is a far superior hotel, my favourite so far :)

I'd wait until there's an equivalent offer on before phoning as any changes will be done as today's rates.

Even though the HNY does nothing for me theme wise, I'd choose it over the Sequoia. Think of the hot breakfast and the location (especially in December), you can always visit the Sequoia for a drink if you're missing it. :)

Hi all,

Thanks for your responses. For humour I did call Disney this afternoon and I was actually surprised by the the price.

It wasn't as expensive as I'd thought (although I assume I was quoted for the basic room). The cost to downgrade would have been £170.30 for our 5 day booking. Given that this would also have included half-board meals this didn't seem a bad price - £34 per day.

I have declined however, as our 5 day booking is really only 3 days by the time I take out travel - 1st day we don't get there until late, and the last day we have to leave early.

I may revisit this should they have a flash sale, or a better offer in December.

Thanks

Iain
