My FI and I are currently staying for 8 days at Port Orleans Riverside, but we recently discovered we have extra cash for the wedding and we're thinking of switching to the Contemporary with a view of MK.

It's $3500 for Riverside with DD and $5200 at the Contemporary with DD. Is it worth the switch? Should we save our money and buy stuff for our house? We don't really travel so this might be our one time at Disney until we have kids. I LOVE the Contemporary because of the monorail and the views. Please help!! Theres not much time left!

I love Port Orleans, but the Contemporary is a treat. And it's your wedding... It'll be great either one you choose, but it might be nice for your house to have the extra cash. Oh boy, I sure helped a whole lot. LOL.

If you don't think you will get the opportunity again I would go for the Contemporary. You can't beat having an MK view. There are so many wonderful things that happen at night around there too. The 7 seas lagoon has it own electrical "parade" and you can see wishes every night!!

How long are you staying ? Why not do a split reservation and stay part of the time at each. Then you still get the perks of the Contemporary, the romance of POR and save some of the extra cash for whatever you want or need. I'm a middle of the road kinda gal !

We do split reservations all the time. We usually go for a two-week stay each year, so that way we can sample 2 resorts while we are there each time !

Hi Kiki :)

I would suggest doing the Contemporary. I know "it's wise to be frugal" and yada yada yada, but this is your wedding, and you yourself said that you don't travel much. You might not have the budget for Contemporary with MK view when you do come back with your kids, or even if you do, a trip with your kids won't be the romantic vacation that this one will be. Make this trip special for the 2 of you :goodvibes

However, if you guys have debt, and you're tempted to use that extra money to pay off outstanding bills or something, then I would tell you to do that, so that you're not feeling guilty on your vacation, and so you don't have this nagging little voice in the back of your head saying, "You shouldn't have spent the extra money!!"

My point is, if you do decide to spend the extra money to stay at contemporary, be happy with your choice, and don't feel guilty or think about it AT ALL wondering if you did the right thing, because you'll just drive yourself nuts.

By the way, I see your location says "St. Catherine's." Which St. Catherine's is that?

Hello,

My fiancee and I had the same discussion. We were originally going to stay in a standard room at the Boardwalk, but we figured, "it's our honeymoon, let's stay in a Garden suite."

It's your honeymoon, spend it exactly as you want. Sure, you can always use more stuff for your house, but you will always be able to use more stuff for your house, you only get one honeymoon. You have the next 50 years to fill your house with stuff, so unless you plan on buying something you're in dire need of, I say splurge on your honeymoon and enjoy the Contemporary.

We go to Disney so many times a year since we have annual passes and ALWAYS stay at the values since we live in Florida. For our honeymoon though we are staying for 7 nights at the GF. We only booked the standard since staying there at all is a treat and we are responsible to pay for our wedding and I will not go into debt. So we are payign cash for everything. We are hoping so much maybe we get some of the pixie dust other girls have gotten and get upgraded for free to concierge, but even if we do not just staying at GF is exciting enough for us.

I am not going to encourage going into debt by any means, but if you can swing it, you will only have 1 honeymoon :)

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

IMO, you will have more attention of the view of each other than the view of the MK.

Stay at PO, and keep the money for something else!

DH and I stayed at CR for our honeymoon and we loved sitting out on our balacony looking at the castle at night. We had a crappy day of traveling and when we got into our room the view made up for the day we had. I would say YES YES YES the view is worth the extra. Also you will be so close to MK and Epcot(by monorail) I wished we could afford to stay at CR every time we went. :cloud9: :cloud9:

Wow I just wanted to say thank you to you all for your wonderful opinions. This is our first time visitng the world together, we both went as 8 years olds which was a quite awhile ago, so it's like we're experiencing it for the first time together. I REALLy want the CR but he's not sold yet, so hoepfully all your opinions will help!

And to Globaldiva, I live in St.Catharines Ontario.
