Hi everyone! I'm in a bit of holiday layout confusion.

We have decided (well Jack said yes after me showing him the Dream video) that we're taking a 3 or 4 night cruise as part of our honeymoon.

Of course I'd rather do the 4, mainly so we can eat at all 4 restaurants and that there's less chance of not making it to Castaway Cay.

But Jack wants to take the cruise towards the end of our trip. And we fly home on a Thursday.

Which means out trip layout can either be.

2 weeks at WDW
3 day cruise
4 nights WDW

Or

17 nights WDW
4 night cruise

A couple of people have told me it's hard to not go back to WDW, and also won't we be at the airport for HOURS before our evening flight?

Tough choice. I would never do a 3 night cruise, 4 nights are over in a blink. 1st day you don't board until afternoon, last day you get off 8-9am so 3 days is really 2.5 days BUT it would be very difficult going straight form the port to the airport, what a downer that would be at the end of your holiday.
No help at all, sorry, tough choice.

Thanks Wayneg, glad you can see my dilemma.

I'm sure I could convince Jack of

10 nights WDW
4 night cruise
7 nights WDW

But then it changes our hotel plans, as we wanted to end at BLT but we can't really afford a week there, so we'd have to have 3 nights BLT before the cruise, then a week at the Beach Club after. Or I downgrade our Floridian from Main Building and we jsut stay there in a normal room for 6 nights instead of the 3 at GF and 3 BLT.

Grrrr. Why can't the 4 night set sail on a Thursday!

We want to do 7 night Alaskan cruise next May but they only go Tuesdays, we want to go Sat so will have to use another crusieline would have been great to cruise Disney to Alaska.

Good luck deciding.

I would go for the first option, in case the ship doesn't get back to port on time. I know it is probably unlikely however I read a ship couldn't leave CC because of bad weather not long ago so I would feel better not having to fly home the same day. I would probably worry about it from booking till the day of the flight.

Last August we did 17 nights at WDW and the 4 nights for our very first cruise - on the Wonder. We flew home on the day that the cruise docked.
Luggage was checked in with Virgin at DTD by 09:00, we then spent the day in M.K. leaving for the airport when the parade finished. Our flight back to U.K. was 17:55. Went like clockwork! :thumbsup2

Did you have a car though? We'd be using Disney transportation, so I doubt they would bring us to WDW and then back to MCO a few hours later.

I could book one night somewhere I guess. Try the Poly maybe.

This is our holiday layout! :) we decided not to have a spilt stay as I have bad motion sickness after being on a boat, and I didn't want to spend the rest of our hols feeling queasy

We have hired a car from Port Canaveral and will probably spend the day at DTD before our evening flight home.

I'm considering something similar for a special holiday in a couple of years time, two weeks at WDW, a four night cruise and then finish with three nights at Universal. That way we can chill out in the first two weeks, do our first ever cruise, yet still have the anticipation of a Universal stay at the end of our holidays!

Thanks for your input everyone. :)

We have booked the cruise. Our trip will now look as follows.

5 nights AKL
3 nights GF
10 nights BC or BW
4 night cruise
1 night BLT
Home :(

Sounds a great itinerary!

Was gonna suggest not flying home the day the cruise gets back, especially if you're not driving, and a night at BLT will be a great way to finish :)

:goodvibes

Hi

I think that your plans are great.:thumbsup2

We have done 2DCL and have been SHATTERED after them as we enjoyed them so much so I think have the extra day before you fly home is a great idea.

Cant wait to hear more about your plansxxx:banana:
