hotel charges hotels.com

i have booked some hotels through hotels .com and they do say all taxes and fees included

but they also say any extra charges may be paid locally

however non of the accomodations i have booked specify a resort fee

so im hoping that i wont have to pay any extra on arrival or check out , is that right

oh and my disney reservation as there is 5 of us said rollaway bed payable locally ? how much is this ?

All the trips we have done we have never paid a resort fee locally, if you buy from a UK agent and prepay then none should be charged unless you are told thru the booking stage. Saying that I always tend to take a local resort fee into account when deciding where to stay just incase I am charged one of these trips. Its the reason I am being swayed back to Fairfield Inn at Easter, I have never been charged anything there, its a few £ more than other hotels I am looking at but they include everything in the price (breakfast, parking, internet, fridge etc)

well thats my concern i dont want to think i have got a bargain when i book then have loads extra charges sneaked on ,

i will add fairfield inn to my list of ones to look at

im just doing looking for our clearwater hotel at the moment thats only for 2 nights so i feel less stressed as its not the end of the world if we dont like it too much when we are only there 2 nights i just want to be near the beach

is hotels.com a uk agent ? im easily confused so im thinking if i just use 1 company for all our bookings , may not be cheapest but i like the way my reservations are set out etc and all our itinerary will be easily viewed in one place

Totally your choice but why not then buy a package holiday?
Hotels.com are usually a very expensive company, I just priced up the Fairfield Inn I am considering booking for Easter, £722. I can get it for £360 elswhere.

Bex, I really think you are making a big mistake by not shopping around. As Wayne said, hotels.com isn't always (or even ever) going to be the cheapest. We have used them a couple of times - usually when they are offering high cashback through Quidco as including the cashback means that they come out cheaper but you shoud always shop around to make sure you are getting the cheapest deal. I would be very surprised if the Disney hotel, for example, was cheaper through them than even booking direct.

travel agent told me i wouldnt be able to do our 3 week trip for under 20k !! i would have loved to book a package but spent 12month getting quotes and nowhere even near what i wanted to spend . this diy planning is tough , im slowly getting in to it by reading lots trip reports etc but more i read and research the more i find i want to do !!

i have booked our disney week direct with disney , indirect flights and will defiantley shop around for our 2nd week accommodation when we will spend 7 nights there

but i just though in the 3rd week when we are moving around alot only 1 or 2 night stays it would just be easier to have all the reservations in one place

BUT money is a huge factor in my choices so i may have a little look elsewhere

If you are going to the effort of doing DIY then it makes no difference if your reservations are with 1 company or 10 companies. You find the room you want pay and print off the voucher. If you have 3 different hotels you have 3 vouchers whoever you book with.

can you reccomend some other uk booking agents and i will compare them against my hotels.com short list

i had semi decided on pelican pointe or wyndham garden at clearwater 2 nights
islander resort at islamorada 2nights
lani kai at fort myers 1night
key west im struggling to find anything i like the look of in budget at all 1night

our miami night is booked already newport beach resort best i could find in budget for 5 of us and close to a beach , even though its not south beach , i did book that when it had 15% quidco but it doesnt seem to have tracked or anything

we had six different vouchers from six different hotel websites that I booked for our last trip, so Bex Shop Around if you lost the voucher you will still have it in your emails

I have an Email folder which I use purely for holiday correspondence so all booking confirmations etc. go in there. Then a couple of weeks before the trip, I print everything off. I also have a trip-planning book that I write all my reservation numbers and pertinent information in.

Try sites like ebookers, expedia, travelocity, hotelopia, travel republic as well as the websites for any particular hotels you might be interested in.

I tend to use Expedia to find a hotel, purely because their search engine and hotel overview is pretty damn good, then once i've chosen hotel look at the hotel's website directly, then TripAdvisor for guest's reviews, then shop about all over the net for the cheapest price, checking fees as i go.

We're after a hotel with unisex spa services (jacuzzi, pool, sauna, steam) on site, and most charge a resort fee, which expedia tells me about, and a lot charge a clean fee which is the same for two nights as it is for two weeks, so not worth it!

Read everything, compare everywhere, book the best deal.

We always move around to different hotels and have many reservations on each trip, my next one we have 4 separate flights with different companies and 6 different hotels.

I also save everything into a folder on my email so if I'm away and have lost a confirmation email I can always check, although more often than not these days hotels don't even want the confirmation email anyway.

You could even consider a timeshare resort for your second week, the site I use I usually pay around $249 for a 2 bed apartment, no tours etc and they have some really nice places.

Also check kayak for hotels as it gives you the prices of several websites, also try moneysupermarket.
