Hotel California

Anyone been to the Hotel California in LA? Is is worth the price I was quoted ($219 for queen standard, continental breakfast, no free parking, private beach access)?

Are you talking about the hotel in Santa Monica?

Yes. Santa Monica. I didn't mean private beach. I meant private path to beach or something they mentioned...

No, I would say it is definitely not worth that price. You're paying for the location only. The hotel itself is old and funky, no updating/upgrades for quite a few years. Cal Mar Suites and Bayview Hotel are two budget-minded places in Santa Monica, usually get good reviews but again you are paying for the location near the beach. If the rates are similar to Hotel California's it is a toss-up, but don't expect much in Santa Monica in summer time for $200., unfortunately.

no but the Eagles wrote Hotel California about the now former mental hospital turned college where i live.
