Hotel bookings

I am waiting for late January dates so I feel your pain. Its maddening isn't it.

I am in the same boat - looking for rates for Feb 2016. I have heard that you can call and reserve, but not sure how they determine price. This past winter they had a 20 or 30% savings offer for early winter stays (including February), so I am keen on seeing if that comes up again. I don't want to hijack your thread, but if anyone responds that knows when these offers typically come out (how far in advance), I would appreciate the insight. Do you book and then re-book with the savings?

Yes, you can call and book a room-only ressie up to 499 days in advance. The price will be based on current rack rates.

Historically it looks as though the discounts came out in October for January/February. For a value, which is what I am looking at, I think it will be 15% but I am hoping for 20%. I don't want to book my rooms at the rack rate and then switch it over because if everyone books up the rooms then why would they release a discount. BUT I am considering booking one night at rack rate simply so I can get my dining reservations in July at the 180 day mark + 10. That is my thought process so far at least...

One night would only give you a 1 day advantage. Do you mean a 10 night reservation with a one night deposit?

Just FYI, people do this all the time (me included). Once discounts are announced for your dates, you can call and ask to have the discount applied to your existing reservation provided you are keeping a room-only type of reservation. If you decide to switch to a package, then you would simply cancel and re-book.

Also, as msb578 mentioned, if you book just one night for dining reservations, you would only be able to book 2 days at the 180 day mark (check in day and check out day). To book length of stay (180+10), you'd need to book the room for the full number of nights. The deposit would still be one night's cost (at current rack rate).

See, this is why I love all you people so much.. you help me untangle the mess in my head lol TY!
