We are thinking of making a trip to California and starting at San Francisco and driving down to Disneyland. We are hoping to this early August, so we are late. I tried a couple of hotels in San Francisco and they are booked the first weekend in August, so we may not have much luck. Just looking for any other suggestions for Hotels. I tried the Americana, but its booked. Thanks.

Are you open to using public transportation to go into the City? If so, you can either stay in Sausalito or Larkspur. Or you can stay at the Larkspur Landing Hotel in South San Francisco and take the train up to the end and it will drop you off at the Embarcadero right next to AT&T park/Giants stadium.

It's a nice walk or bike along the Embarcadero. Then, you spend a leisurely pace to the Wharf. if you want to get into downtown, there's the bus. I prefer walking or biking along the water. You can get pics from the bottom of the bridge.

To get to the Golden Gate Bridge from SSF, you can also take 380 to 280 and head up to the bridge. Or you can take the 101 North to the Embarcadero and take a very slow pace up to the Golden Gate Bridge.

We like to stay at Union Square. We've had recent good stays st Parc 55, the Sir Frances Drake and the Saint Francis.

Further out we like the Seal Rock Inn (cheaper, we always pay more for a view and small fireplace out there in the fog if the Richmond district).

Thanks for the responses, we booked rooms at Cow Hollow Motor Lodge. Fingers cross it is nice and clean, reviews looked like it was clean, but a little dated. Sounds like we can walk to the Walt Disney Museum from there.
