Hotel 1-2 minute walking distance to Dowtown Disney?

It doesn't really matter whether a Palmetto Bug is a Cockroach (in the Northern frame of reference) or not. Deb & Bill were referencing another thread where the OP wanted a list of WDW resorts and off site hotels that had NO history of bedbugs or other insects!!!! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Like that was even a remote possibility anywhere in Florida...

Yeah, I know :).

People get all bent out of shape about bugs. The OP isn't the first one to post that they didn't want a hotel without Palmetto bugs or bed bugs. She does seem like she is having a hard time deciding where to stay and how to get to Florida. I hope she makes a decision soon. Sometimes planning can be so stressful when you want everything to be perfect!

And....??

You haven't noticed that there are also some CBR army and CSR army in other threads... why? Because they are giving them suggestions and they feel that their favorite resort fits what the person needs or want.

The parking fee was raised to $12 a day fairly recently at the Hilton DTD.

WHAT???? There are bugs in Florida.... :faint:

I must have missed those.... Oh well... :stir:

Griz

You were probably to busy lookin at the gators and snakes.

Denise in MI
I've seen BOTH at Disney resorts. There was the gator over at BCV (he's gone, but the giant turtles are still there) and there was a small snake outside on our patio at OKW :).

And then there was the infamous thread about the snake on top of the curtains in the CR guest room.

Robin and u guys are hysterical. LOL over here!!:rotfl2: I make myself laugh too. I am indecisive. BUT guess what! I booked the WL - have to make deposit this weekend and unfortunat. it's $2100k for 6 nites. I like the boat to the Magic Kingdom and monorail.

We will try to go to MK each night, but I checked the hours for the Fall and gee they close early at 7pm some nites! Kind of stinks to pay all this money and then can't even go there! Can we stay one hour later since we're in a WDW resort??

Only if they have Extra Magic Hours. Most nights the MK is closed at 7 they will have the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, which is a hard ticket event. Meaning you have to pay extra for the party. It's not cheap.

If you are going in Oct, MK will close at 7 for the Halloween party on Sunday, Tuesday, Thurs and Friday. You will need a ticket for the party to stay after 7.

I booked Doubletree, but that is a 15 min walk and they charge $10 a day for parking. I am cancelling now.

Do you now of any hotel only 1-3 mins walk?? We'd be out late and don't want to walk far.

It is not that far a walk from any of those hotels in Lake Buena Vista to DTD then those buses go to resorts NOT the parks and they all sound cheap but once they add the parking and hotel fees might as well stay on property plus on property if free dining available can get that and can get all tickets cheaper form Disney (to us you can as we got stung big time ONCE on tickets and had to buy them again) also the bus system in those hotels is just bizzare as not managed by Disney you can call any one of them and they will tell you they "think" they have handicap equiped buses but they do NOT. we used to love staying at Travel Lodge now Best Western and had to give it up as transportation was huge issue. :confused3

Sometimes planning can be so stressful when you want everything to be perfect!

Sometimes it seems like the more someone plans, the more likely it is that something will happen to make the trip less than perfect in their eyes. I never aim for perfection on a vacation - just some relaxation and fun!

It can be difficult to compare the DTD and other non-Disney owned on property resorts to actual Disney resorts, because of having to search for all the hidden fees. I wish hotels would just let you select the amenities you want, and then give you a total amount, instead of having to research and add everything up separately. If they have a "mandatory resort fee" then that should never be listed separately - but it often is. I've had the same issues when comparing the Swan or Dolphin to the Epcot resorts.

OP, WL is a great hotel, and you will enjoy it. I will be there myself next month. It's my favorite resort to stay in when I'm not going to any parks at all - it's that enjoyable (so long as the theme appeals to you - which I assume it does or you wouldn't have booked it in the first place). You will have Disney transportation if you want to go to a park that is open later than MK. If you're a night owl, plan your park days around the evening EMH and you'll have all the late entertainment you need.

Awesome! Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful resort. Bummer about the MK closing early. I guess that opens up the opportunity to spend evenings at a different park. For every door that closes, another opens if you are able to go with the flow and see it.

Anyone stayed at the Doubletree Lake Buena Vista? We have reservations for October.

As a FL resident I can say there are no bugs or snakes anywhere in FL.. Did I mention that I am in complete denial????
