I would happily go in the heat of free dining if I didn't have to go back to work right when it starts.

I just think of all I could do with that $1500

$300- fireworks cruise
$250- gift baskets for the kids
$75- afternoon tea at the GF
$300- limo to the hotel (a majorsplurge!)
$50- birthday cakes for the 2 b-days we have there
$50- chocolate slipper desserts (just because they look fun!)

I'm not even to $1500 yet... That savings could go a long way toward making an amazing trip even better. I just don't think school will understand me not showing up for the first week. :sad1:

For us it is, but we are from a hot and humid state already so it won't be much different :) Plus dd just starts her break that week (year round school) so it is a great time for us, heat and all :goodvibes

Oh my! year round school? where do you live, if you don't me asking?

Definitely! We live in South Texas so we're used to the heat, humidity, and the love bugs! I would prefer it to be cooler, but I'll take free dining with the heat and humidity.

We're DVC members, so if we have points, it's better for us to book with our points and pay for dining. In that case, I would opt for the cooler weather. However, if we don't have the available points (such as my Sept 20-27 trip) I'm all about the free dining!

We've gone in September and it is hot, but if you take your time and go into the stores every now and then for the AC, you'll be just fine:)

I voted no. I have been there in August and in September and I just didn't enjoy myself as much. I prefer 70's to 80's than upper 90's. My husband can not tolerate the extreme heat at all and I feel that my kids would be crankier if they were overheated.
Just my opinion. I hope everyone else has a wonderful time.

The past several years we have only been in the cold months to Disney. We are actually excited about it being hot enough to swim everyday!!

Funny thing about the Florida heat in August is it's a lot like childbirth...you forget just how bad it was as time goes by and you do it again!!!

Pretty sure I said the phrase, "NEVER AGAIN" at least 1000 times last year during free dining end of August yet here I am booked again. The food was soooooo darned good and it was nice to be able to eat table service for a change.

Looks like most of us would do free dining and deal with the heat to save alot of money. ($$$1500 is alot to save for us) Gas is so high all over the US, so driving 500 miles one way, for a total of 1000 miles to get free dining, I guess you can say it is worth the heat. Praying that gas prices will come down and stay down. We have a Tahoe and it does drink the gas.:hippie:

It wasn't all that hot last year in September. As a matter of fact the week that we were there it rained off and on so it stayed overcast and breezy.

I was great!:goodvibes

This is our hope, 9/19-9/26, but we aren't counting on it. And we bought the Water Parks option for our tickets and plan to spend two morning/early afternoons at TL and BB, then head to whatever park has EMH late that night. So...hopefully it will be ok :)

Right now I am saying it is worth it. This is the first time that we are using the free dining. (I never knew about it until this year). I figure it can't be any worse than when we went in June of '06. It was hot but it was also extremely crowded and it rained a lot!:scared1:
My husband an I agreed that if we were ever able to go back that we would never go that time of year again.
So, I figure it should be better in September since we won't have the crowds to deal with. :yay:

How bad does it usually rain in September? Is an every day occurance? Are they light showers that pass quickly?

I voted yes. This will be our first year using the DP. We're excited to try it and to visit the parks during a time we never have before. I'm hoping that the low crowd level + the free food= great fun!! Also, being from a warm AL climate anyway, DH and I have not enjoyed the pools at the last three resorts we've stayed at! We're looking forward to enjoying the pool.

I can stand the crowds if it's cool; I can stand the heat if it's not crowded; BUT I can't stand crowds and heat together!

This is my first time for FD so I will tell you when I get back. :rotfl:

I do think it depends on where you live though. I am in the Houston area so I can be hot and humid at home or I can be hot and humid at WDW with Disney doing the cooking for me and paying the a/c bills. :lmao:

We're from Alabama too!...Foley to be exact! The way I see it is I can be in HOT Alabama or I can be at HOT Disney...hmmm....let me think about that for a nano-sec....DISNEY!! And Free Food just adds to the already awesome deal!

We went the last 2 years in Septembers the last week in the month both times 06 and 07 and it hardly rained at all, maybe we were just lucky.
