I truly am not trying to start anything, but I have a quick question.

Are FW people still allowed to pool hop at the WL? We're staying at VWL for the 4th, and I'm curious b/c the last few times we've stayed at the WL, FW people went to our pool and it drove me NUTS b/c it was so overcrowded! And from what I understand, pool hopping is not allowed. So just curious. TIA for your help with this question.

From what I understand, the only time pool hopping is STRICTLY prohibited is at Beach/Yacht Club, where they actually check id's and WILL kick you out if you aren't staying at those 2 resorts, and possibly at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I know they used to be real strict about visiting AKL once, it may still be so.

I don't think they encourage pool hopping (except at the All Stars) but I really don't know if it is prohibited anywhere except at BC and YC.

It's not allowed...period...this is debated time and time again, and bashing back and forth time and time again. The rules are the rules, no pool hopping.

Nothing against you or your post- just writing regarding other posts I've read time and time again. People may still do it, people may feel entitled to do it, people may want to do it- but the rules are what they are. Pool hop at your own risk and IMO....use your conscience.

So in short, yes, I agree with you :)

THANK YOU!! I'm sorry, but someone told me one time that FW people could do this. That drives me nuts! They have their own pool, so use it! I know this sounds a bit preteniuos, but we paid good money to stay there, and one thing we paid for is having exclusive rights to our pools. Yes, I know they'll be crowded when we're going, but it shouldn't be worse than the amount of people at the resort.

DVC members can pool hop but only during certain times of the year, and then not at SAB. The people who stay at POR/POFQ can use each others pools, and the people who stay at the All Stars can use each others pools. That's all I know about.

I currently have reservations for WL as well and this is what was keeping me from staying at WL. While on a trip last year (4th of July) the main pool and quiet pool were packed and I mean packed. So, as we are trying to make the best of what ever space we could find to cool off. I heard several people in the pool chat about going back to their resort pool at FW since WL was so crowded  I don't see how Disney can put a stop to pool hopping, I've never seen or heard anyone being asked for proof they are resort guests, except for YC and BC. I don't remember if our room keys even state the resort your staying in, I know it state's your departure date but not your resort :confused3 Hopefully this July trip won't be the same situation with the overcrowded pools at WL :(

My roommate is actually a wristband distributer at YC/BC and she says that even there it is only sometimes enforced (but I won't say when it's not). I have read other posters saying they've been asked for ID at the Boardwalk as well. I know the AKL has rules as well and I'm interested to see if they check on us when we stay there later this month.

I can say that at the when my family and I have stayed at the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge we have been asked at random times by the lifeguards to show our KTTW cards, so they have been checking to make sure no guests were pool hopping. Also On your KTTW cards the numbers at the bottom would indicate which Resort your staying at and somehow the lifeguards know which Resort your staying at by reading them.

Be glad that that check the guests.
I’m on another board ,not about Disney but Florida.
The members on that board mostly stay off side. You would not want to know how often the question comes up if its possible for non Disney resort visitors to sneak in and just use the pool by acting as a Disney guest. “Can I get free towels there is also a "normally” asked question.

The latest question was really to much. A family staying in a crappy hotel was not happy with the pool there. To small and crowded. The father would like to go swimming at a Disney resort because his kids would loved it to be at Disney swimming pool .
He asked the POOLBOY of his hotel if this was possible. He got as an answer “sure why not, just go there. Disney is making money enough so why not take advantage of there pools.

What if they did not check the guests? The pools would be even more crowded by people who did not pay for the use of it.

As far as I know, only DVC members can pool hop; however, they can't hop over to the BC/YC or AKL pools.

I was posted this the last time this question was asked. When we were at WL in Jan '05 my son took his daughter to the pool, while I washed clothes on our last night. They did not take their room keys with them, but were asked to show them. My son came to the laundry room to get mine and I walked out to the pool with him. I showed the lifeguard my key, but he demanded to see both my son's and my GD's, saying that just because I was staying there did not mean they were. I left to go upstairs to get their room keys. When I came back my son and GD started telling me I had missed all the fireworks. There were two different groups who were asked to leave because they were not WL guests. One dad got really angry and started yelling that as much money as he was paying for this vacation he should be allowed to swim wherever he wanted to. He demanded a manager and when the manager sided with his lifequards, the man bacame even more irate and security escorted him and his family away. Again this was in January. Granted the weather was warm, but definitely not a busy time of the year.

I've also seen people asked for their room keys at the Boardwalk Inn in May '06 and again saw people asked to leave.

FW guests are NOT allowed to use WL pools. I believe they actually tell them this at check-in. (That doesn't mean they follow the rules.)

I wish WDW would upgrade the FW pool(s) so FW guests would be happy with their own resort.

Silly question, why pool hop?

There are two great water parks on property, I've only been to one.;)

They do random resort ID checks at the WL main pool, and I have seen people escorted away from the pool area by security when they couldn't produce a WL ID.

if you see FW guests using the pool - simply tell the lifeguards or front desk.

they can have them removed.

if there is a problem they will call security.

they know they are not to use WL pools - they sign an agreement (or did) that they won't.

too many times though they just moved to VWL pool.... which makes me mad, as a DVC member, members are paying for that pool - WDW is not.

don't mind WL - heck VWL guests use WL pool - so they have a right to use VWL pool.

some people don't care, some people feel entitled, some people are just rude and some leave their manners and brains at the gate.

people at FW pay the least amount of $$$, and then figure they can run to WL to hang with people that spent the most...they KNOW better, they just don't care.

If you want certain amenities, pay for it :thumbsup2 :

IMO- most of the pools should have people checking IDs. I was at ASMu and our pools were practically empty. THEN we checked into AKL...the pools were PACKED. I could be wrong but I find it hard to believe that all those people paid to stay at AKL. Seems to me there was a lot of pool hopping going on :(

Thank you for answering the question, I never heard of "pool hopping" until reading this board, and I know it is something I won't do only because I like the water parks better than the pool at whatever resort I am staying at. :goodvibes

sure, it is a very hot topic ;) btw i wasn't referring to the op who asked a valid question. i was speaking about some guest who really feel justified in breaking the rules.
