Hi all,
Just returned and thought I'd send out my trip report.
IT WAS HOT!!!!!
But IMHO it wasn't really that crowded. We were there 8-8 to 8-15. It got really crowded on the 13th when free dining kicked in.
When we arrived we did DTD (kids bought lanyards and began pin trading right away) and then had dinner at OHana. Ohana rocks. My boys had a ball with the limbo and hula lessons, etc. We really liked the food. Cousin Chris was da bomb! We had priority seating at 8:15 which was perfect to watch Wishes from the dock outside the Polynesian. Excellent spot and not crowded.
Next day was MK. Before MK, we did Chef Mickey (7:20am reservations). It was awesome! Food was great, a big variety. Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Chip & Dale, Minnie, Pluto were all there, and we had many photo ops. Chip and Dale were so funny. Dale was stuffing hard boiled eggs in my DS face...really cute pics. Chip was tickling my MIL when we were trying to get a pic....tricky little guys. We parked at the contemporary...valet, left our cars there all day and didn't have to mess with parking at MK.....awesome idea...just hopped the monorail over to MK. We had a blast, but I never found the elusive Dole Whip. We ate at Tony's. Food was good. DS loved the Mickey shaped raviolis. Big hit. I loved the pesto that comes with the bread. We did FP for Splash, and then did SM and BTR right away. Good plan, but it was a lot of back and forth.....we kept joking about "Big Ben, Parliament...." since we kept seeing the same thing. (Anyone remember that from NL Vacation). Buzz was fun. Pirates was pretty neat. DS liked Haunted Mansion. Pecos Bill BBQ Pork sandwich was great for lunch! Mickey's Philharmagic was such a great show
....best 3D in the world.
Next day was Epcot...got FP for Mission Space, did TEst Track 2 times in a row no lines. Test track was the coolest ride at Epcot. We wimped out and did the less wild Mission Space, then headed over to Soarin'. Very cool, but the people's feet dangling in our faces kind of ruined the whole "realistic" feel to the ride. We ate at Tepanyaki in Japan...excellent hibachi (sp?) steak house. Chef was female, loved that! Picked a pearl and got a silver/blue 7.5!!!! I made a pendant from it. It was so hot that we made that day shorter...I think we missed a lot of EPCOT because we wanted to get out of the heat. Didn't stay for Illuminations...and never made it back.
Next day we headed over to Universal.....loved Revenge of the Mummy, Shrek, Terminator, & Back to the Future!
Next day was Animal Kingdom. We loved Kali Rapids, rode it 3 times in a row at park opening. EE had a "malfunction" while we were waiting in line. A whole car worth of people got stuck up top....had to walk down. Yikes, that was enough to scare me off. Never did that one. Kilimanjaro Safari was beautiful. A must see. Only needed 1/2 day for AK.
The rest of our trip was spent at MGM (3times)...for some reason we loved this park. We rode Rockin' Roller Coaster more times than I can count. Loved ToT. Ate at SciFi...excellent food and atmosphere. Kids loved the blinking ice cube! Steak sandwich was awesome! We also ate at 50's Prime Time Cafe. This was our favorite place to eat of all. Food was excellent. I had pot roast, DH had meatloaf, kids had Salmon & a burger. Our waiter (or should I say babysitter), Topher was hilarious! If you go there, request to sit in his section. Beauty and the Beast was a great show. Fantasmic was the best show I've ever seen. It was Fantasmic! If you miss it, you are really missing out.
We loved Who Wants to Be a Millionnaire and did it more than once, but never made it to the hot seat. Can't believe it's going to be canceled.
Other highlights...if you are staying offsite, Caribe Royale is very nice. Don't eat at Landry's (offisite)...big disappointment. Planet Hollywood in DTD is great. Spend one evening at DTD, there is so much to see and do.
Pin Trading was fantastic. Our whole family got involved. It was one of our favorite parts of the trip. If you want tips, tricks, or other info, PM me.
For a gal with a food allergy, WDW is awesome. EAch and every chef came to my table to discuss the menu with me because I was allergic to eggs. What fantastic hospitality.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but this will have to do!
