It depends on the dog and the condiments offered.

I love ketchup, mustard and relish, sometimes adding diced onions to the mix. When I crave a chili dog, it has to have onions and melted cheese.

The "New England Hot Dog Company" chain has offerings that make ones mouth water! One is spoiled for choice, when stepping into those establishments!

If it's a regular hotdog (the small ones) I like to have it on a piece of squishy white bread, you know the kind where it is so squishy that it gets stuck to the roof of your mouth and either ketchup or mustard.

In the summer I like to have the footlong hotdogs on the grill and those I just put on a plate (no bun) and dip it in ketchup.

First step, grill the bun, then slice the hot dog in half cooked. next, add ketchup, mustard (pref. spicy), dill relish, onions (pref. grilled), chili and jalepenos. finally, smuther it in cheese.

This past season on "The Bachelor" one of the finalist girls in the beginning conducted the "Hot Dog Topping Personality Quiz" by saying she could tell what kind of man he was by what toppings he put on his hot dog! ....after that I'm glad I'm a mustard person!

Sorry, C.Ann, I'm not meaning to hijack your thread! I love to see everyone's choice of toppings!
I think the hot dog topping theory is meant more for men, so I retract my mustard liking statement, but according to Jillian Harris, a bachelorette from this past season of Bachelor:

Only ONE topping for the theory is allowed (sorry uuaw, you'll have to pick ONE!)
Ketsup means you are an all-American non-risk taking kind of guy
Sauerkraut means you are the bad boy all women think they want
Onions mean you're not the marrying kind of guy
Chilicheese means you are a risk taker and want the best of both worlds
Mustard means the kind of guy all women want (no explanation really!)

I really don't know where people come up with these kinds of things!
I do love the way people eat their hot dogs differently in different regions of the country!
Now I am really craving hot dogs! Yum!

Depends on my mood. Plain, just relish or relish and a touch of spicy mustard.

It has to be the "right" hot dog though. I can handle Ball Parks but prefer to have Vienna Beef. I don't like any other kinds.
