hostels in Paris

We are in the pre-planning stages for this trip in late July 2010 before our cruise to Dover to Barcelona. I was looking at some hostels and wondering if that might be a good place to stay. I would like to see Paris and DLP. Thinking of staying 3-4 days. If we stay near DLP, I am thinking of Hotel Kyriad. I want the quintessential French experience. (Never been there before). Any suggestions?

I've personally never stayed in any hostels in Paris, but if you google hostels they come up with some of the big worldwide hostel websites like www.hostelworld.com that have loads of reviews of hostels that are usually very reliable.

I would imagine Paris like many other cities, if you want a private room in a hostel in one of the more popular hostels you will have to book far in advance (when I have travelled sometimes a year ), so it may be something to keep an eye out.

Given that Paris is v.expensive for hotels in comparison to most of europe I would have guessed that hostels are very popular!
