Hi, my question for any Hospitality/ Tourism majors is if they can give me any background on the major...

I know for a fact that I'd love to do the Disney College Program:wizard:, but am unsure of what to major in (I'd like to find a "disney-esque" major, so that I can hopefully work there full- time some day! :cloud9::love: )

I'm interested in this major because entering Disney's hotels to me is one of the most magical experiences to me& I'd love to bring that to famalies around the world! I feel that I'd be a good fit to the welcoming enviroment. Also, I'd like the actaul parks to remain feeling like a vacation to me, so staying in the resorts would maintain that for me. (Crazy, I know.)

So if anyone could help me and others interested in the subject I'd appreciate it soooooo much! :thumbsup2 (Ex: what kind of courses do you take...math, comp., etc.)

:thanks:
Marissa

My friend is in Hospitality here at BU.

She got Hospitality as a role even though she didn't apply for it/I] because she had already worked at a hotel all summer and she is in Hospitality. She did, however, apply for Concierge...so that's close enough. She's psyched!

It really depends on the school that you will be attending, what kind of classes that they will offer. I'm at a community college right now, majoring in hospitality management and the best I can do is link you to the page with requirements for an associate's degree:
http://www.ccbcmd.edu/catalog/programs/host_degree.html
there are some gen eds in there, like a general math/english/science,etc. but that's with pretty much any major. to get an idea of what the classes cover, you can click the links and it takes you to a description.
this may be of little help to you, since it's just community college and on the associate's degree level. but you may be taking some of the same types of things...

it's late, but i thought i'd throw my two cents in, in case you get something from it. best of luck deciding!

I'm a Tourism student here in Calgary, Canada. But my only options are the Cultural Rep (which I'm not a fan of, Canada doesn't exactly have TOO unique of a culture compared to USA, and answering questions about igloos and beavers would probably annoy me) and the Summer Work Experience which would fit perfect with my program and fits the internship requirements I'm sure! :D
