Hospitality Closet?

I thought about this too. The vacation homes we have stayed in had owner's closets, that locked with no handle. It would be nice to have a place for things we only use at WDW.

I know our last trip, I would have loved to take our stroller and leave it, as the only place we use it is at WDW. Also would be nice to leave golf clubs.

If there was a service that allowed us to store non-perishable items and clothing for future trips -would you use it?
Yes! I've often wished we could keep a few things in Orlando for future visits, but a storage unit is too: 1) expensive, 2) big, 3) out of the way. I'd be willing to pay a reasonable amount for storage.
How about letting the local food pantry or homeless shelter come on site and collect the unusables? I don't think a barrel in the hallway will do but maybe a 'slot' like the ones for video returns where you can only deposit the items. This would be better than letting the food go to waste...
This was brought up at a BWV annual meeting a few years ago. It isn't workable as there is WAY too much risk to Disney. They can't pass on any foodstuffs that have been under the control of others. It is sad, but I understand their viewpoint. They DO donate to local foodbanks on their own.

Hopefully, some food bank will set up a donation station off WDW property someday.

I've often wanted to stay behind .
Storage might be a good place to hide

The only resorts I know that can do this are small, family type operations. The one that comes to mind is One Napili Way on Maui. They will store like a rubbermaid tote.

Doc - I would love it as long as location was pretty convenient. Many times we are in a rush to get to airport and need to drop off supplies just might make us late. I take a large DVC bag each trip that makes the villa like home. It is 7 years of collecting the little things we have needed over the years and ran out for. The kids have all the little light up toys, and as they get older, the hats and logo items that they wear proudly at WDW but would never in front of their friends back home. We always buy noodles for the pool and leave them for others. I could then have a non stick pan as I refused all these years to pack one! We go once a year at the holidays and I can have a DVC tree too. OK - a bit overboard but it would be handy.:smooth:

The Book Exchange and the Food Pantry seem to be pretty practical. Each Resort has several sitting areas, just set up a book shelf with a sign explaining its purpose. I usually look for someone around the pool anyways to pass off my finished books.

After all the responses to Tinkrbells great idea, I have contacted Second Harvest re: food pickup. I also spoke with my guide about this when she called me and got a go ahead.

I am still working out the details with Second Harvest but thought I would get some feedback. DVC Members would leave a plastic grocery bag (or more if applicable) with the Bellman at checkout. It would be marked with the name of the Second Harvest contact. They would than swing through the 4 DVC resorts and pickup their "packages" from the Bellstands.

I know this sounds over simplistic so there must be at least one snag. If anyone has ideas, let me know, I am supposed to speak to Second Harvest again tomorrow

Sandy,

Great news if Disney will allow Second Harvest to pick up. I for one would definitely give items to bell service!

I have often thought it would be great to have a place to store my Disney items. I usually vacation in the winter and take 2-3 trips during that season. I drag my things all the way to Florida, then back again, only to repeat this in another month. If I could store my clothing (summer items which are not used at home during the winter) and my room items (soap, detergent, tablecloth, etc.), it would be great!

I rarely have food leftover, as I eat out, get something "to go," or order room service.

I would be interested in storage, though. :)

Doc, I think it is a great idea to have a storage space where things could be stored and delivered. That would be a great side business for someone living in WDW area. I wish I lived there I would set it up and do the deliveries. If you need help setting it up let me know.
