I was told that there is a hospital for the DCM at disneyworld.

I am a nurse and was wondering if anyone knew where I could go to inquire about becoming a nurse at DW or if they have nurses on the Cruise lines?

That would be a dream job and a half..

Any ideas where I could inquire?

Disney does has a medical facility for cast members located near Epcot. Please only apply if you're nice and love your job! I had to deal with that place a few years back and all the nurses except one (Valerie if she is still there and for some reason reads this!) were rude. Not certain on how to go about looking for openings, but my best guess would be to contact the general casting facility.

Disney has a very large Health Services system and employs many RNs. In addition, there is a small medical center which is run by a subsidiary of Walgreens (I forget the name) for full service for those CMs (and their familes) that are covered by the Disney Health Insurtance.

For the Disney Health Services, the nurses have varying assignments and will work not only at the Health Center but also at the First Aid locations in all of the Parks. The First Aid stations are staffed, usually with at least two nurses on duty at each, whenever the Parks are open.

 Wow.

Oh, the irony!

Interesting that you found almost all of the nurses rude. At Disney yet.

Perhaps I should have added a smiley to indicate that I was not trying to be rude towards the OP. Quite honestly, there are some professions that I feel require a more gentle nature and nursing is one of them. Also, it's pretty much an Urgicare type of place so the staff is not as massive as a hospital. Perhaps I did not meet every single nurse there, but I did come across at least four of them and I stick with my statement that I only found one to be pleasant. Sorry about what happened to your Cheerios this morning.

Awww, that is too bad. I hate when people are rude.

We had to go see the nurse at Typhoon Lagoon, and she was wonderful.

OP, good luck in finding a job there.

My mom is a retired RN, looked briefly at being a nurse on a cruise ship "for fun". You're on call 24/7 on the ship, she did that in nursing school in 1946 and said there was no way she was going to do that now she was retired! So she decided it was easier to just pay to cruise, but she can cruise anytime and has gotten 7 day cruises on lines OTHER than Disney for as low as $299, so why work to cruise?

Have you tried disney.com/careers ?

They usually list jobs there for company-wide openings. They have a category listing for Nurse / Medical Healthcare so they must hire for that category there, but there are none currently for Florida.

You can cross reference states with job categories to get a wide sweep of listings.

I'd suggest you start taking a close look at your own interactions with people if it seems "everyone's" being rude to you.

My guess would be that you weren't so nice yourself that day. ;)

Please only apply if you're nice and love your job!
Completely uncalled for in this thread.

I hope you get the answers you're looking for.

Over the years I've seen a few comments about these jobs. One thing I've heard is that the pay is low compared to what you would make outside of Disney. And that "working" in a "regular" job while you're at Disney is a lot different than being on vacation.

On our last trip my DD cut herself and we went to one of the walk in clinics to get her some bandaids. I found everyone to be super nice and accomodating. They gave me extra supplies to keep on hand and told me to come back if there were any further issues, etc.

I just remembered I also had an injury once on Castaway Cay. I cut my foot. Again, the nurse there did a great job, despite juggling several things going on at once. Same thing I would expect at any clinic.

I typed up a reply to defend myself (trust me, I deal with medical staff a lot with a seriously ill father so I know who is there to help versus who should have just stayed home), but I would prefer to go on my merry little way. I would like to apologize to OP for the turn the thread has taken. I hope you have found the answers you were searching for, and good luck in the job hunt!

Not quite Disney, but when we were at Universal Studios, California, which is a large, working studio, DS#4 was sick. I took him to the clinic for some Tylenol and while there had a chance to chat with the nurse. They are all occupational health nurses, and take turns rotating into the "guest clinic". There other jobs include taking care of the cast and crew. She told me about some serious accidents that have occurred while filming or doing show stunts; falls, burns, etc. and the OSHA logs. It was interesting. I also had a talk with one of the RN's on the Voyager of the Seas. They have clinic hours for passengers and another set of hours for the staff and crew. They work hard and have a lot of responsibilities.

wow all the directions this post has taken..

I too know where the poster was going with liking their job.. we have nurses at the hospital that I work that that dont seem to like their job..

I just love nursing.. :)

But where is "casting" is that the Disney careers website? I have searched there and there was nothing for RN.. If the hospital is as large as some have mentioned.. there should always be a bit of turnover.. so I felt that I might have been looking in the wrong place.

I talked to a few nurses that were employed by seaworld at disvovery cove.. and they mentioned that everyone there had that job as a second job.. because the pay really wasnt that good but to work at discovery cove every day... wow..

so I just wanted to look into it just to see what kind of opportunities were out there.

I am still in search of where to look exactly.

I only know about WDW having never been to DLR The Casting that was mentioned is the Casting center opposite DTD...its different than the web site you checked. There are no walk-ins for the casting center to be employed by WDW. You have to go through the web site and apply, post your resume' and then a recruiter will contact you ( well actually you have to keep logging and checking to see if there is a task to complete ie schedule an interview) if they feel there is an opening for you. Good Luck to you
