I love to ride horses when I go on vacation. I am a beginner rider and taking lessons at home. How is this experience? Is it a slow glorified pony ride or is it worth the $42 and a decent trail ride through the forest?

We enjoyed it, but is a pretty tame ride. They take you on a trail through the woods and we were able to see some wildlife, etc. The horses do walk the entire ride, so if you are expecting more than that you will be disappointed. I thought it was a very relaxing, fun bit of time though.

My DD & I went a few years ago. Your horse NEVER gets above a slow walk. All of the horses on the ride walk pretty much in a row. If one stops, you all then have to walk. My DD was probably 10 at the time. She enjoyed it. I think the money could have been better spent somewhere else.

I enjoyed it. It was DH's first time on a horse and he had a good time. It's a very leisurely walk and the beginner of beginners can handle this one!

we did this a few years ago and the horses are very gentle. my 10 yr old son who is mildly handicapped was even able to ride

It is a VERY slow walk and VERY calm and VERY tame. If you expecting more, you will be disappointed.

Definitely slow and tame, but fun. I've done it a few times. The last time, there was only one other guest so I had great fun chatting with the guides. I am a horse owner myself, and I was so impressed with their knowledge and care for the horses. One of the guides was riding a horse that looked almost exactly like my Appaloosa, Figment. If you do it, try to get on the first ride of the day for the best wildlife spotting opportunities. We were early and saw all sorts of critters, including deer.
