Horrible Housekeeping at All-Star Sports

Mrs. Smith - I am sooo sorry Mousekeeping dropped the ball on cleaning the room you stayed at - honeymoon, no less....

And now, re-reading your posts and the whole thread, I will write what I thought the other day when I heard this....

I have never stayed at a value. Have stayed at the mods several times. Have stayed at WL and this past summer, spent 3 days at YC before requesting to be moved. Only at YC did I get a call every day, from check in day to the day we transferred, from the general manager, "Jim", I think.

"Jim" left a message each day to assure that if there were any problems with our accomodations at all, or anything that could be done to make our stay more pleasurable to please let him know. Bet yer boots that if there had been ANY mousekeeping issues - since someone ASKED! - I would've been on the phone in an instant - as I was when the fridge needed attention.

This nonsense about all levels of resorts all offer the same level of service is ridiculous. Not to say there have not been significant mousekeeping complaints posted here, say, about GF. I've found previous' guests belongings upon check in at WL at least twice now. Service is slipping all over, yes, perhaps. But maybe it slips first and faster at the Values.

Now... where's that suit-icon thingy??

No it wasn't just you. We stayed at Sports the same time you did and our housekeeping was BAD!!! We got clean towels everyday, but that was it. The beds were never made!!! They pulled the sheets up and that was it. I was pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if the sheets were changed at all.

Also just got back from 8 nights.

What building were you in?

I was in Center Court building #4 and had terrific mousekeeping.

However, I placed the 'Privacy Please' card in the door each morning and the employee tried to come in the room twice before 10am.

There was a lot of water standing, are you talking about water standing beside the pumphouse/poolhouse on the left walkway from the food court?

Did you know they opened the Surfboard Bay pool back up the day you posted this topic?:lmao: (It's funny because it's early) ;) Bad luck my friend!
I was sure that the pool wouldn't open until this morning when I left for the airport.

Seriously, your room sounds like it was really unclean.:scared1:
Were you in a refurbished room?

We've stayed at mod and value and I think we actually got better service at ASSports this past week then we've every gotten from any hotel before. There was one day when someone put the "privacy please" card in the door after we left our room. Mousekeeping left a message on the phone saying they were unable to service our room because the card was in the door. We had connecting rooms and must have realized thatwe were indeed gone for the day and cleaned it anyway. Same thing happened the next day, only this mousekeeper didn't service the room. A quick call fixed that. Someone was there almost as quick as I hung up the phone. I really think that it depends more on the mousekeeper then the resort. Not sure if it mattered or not, but we did tip $1 per person per day of our stay.

Some hotels have rules that housekeeping isn't supposed to move items around to vacuum, etc. because then sometimes people think their items are missing, which leads to claims that housekeeping stole them. I wonder if Disney has that rule, and that's why they didn't move your stuff around to vacuum? I know that the rule at the hotel where I used to work was that if a bed was covered in too much stuff, it wasn't made.

I'll be at All Star Sp for a night or two this month, I really hope I get a nice clean room!

We were lucky and got upgraded to a "deluxe" (read wheel-chair accessable) room of building #1 of Surf's Up, room 1142 to be exact. Not that either of us are in need of a whee chair, but they just wanted to give us a better room with a larger bed, being our honeymoon and all. They were very nice about that. The room was huge, by Value standards.

The pool being closed was not an issue, it was the gross water that us, and anyone with baggage checking in, had to wade through to get to the rooms. Not a perfect first inpression. Glad to hear the pool is open though.

We had a horroible experince at Coronado Springs in 2003. There were stains on the capttets and dead bugs under the bed...as well as spilled medication.

What really dissapointed me was that I had to call times before I could get it fixed. Afterwards I wrote Al Weis a letter and he didn't respond either...until I sent a note to Jay Rasulo. Then I got a call form Al's person assitant.

Since then it has been wonderful but it really dampened my wife's first expereince of the World. We went on a cruise and the service there re-inspired us.

Sorry to hear about OP's bad experience at Sports. We've stayed there twice and never had a problem. As a matter of fact on this most recent stay we had an absolutely wonderful mousekeeper.

Again, glad they weren't just picking on us. I couldn't understand either. It certainly wasn't a busy time of year. You'd think they'd of had plenty of time for each room.

Not sure if it mattered or not, but we did tip $1 per person per day of our stay.

I really don't think it should matter. You're already paying for a clean room.

We go twice a year and stayed at all of the mods and deluxes over the years and have never had a problem with housekeeping.
Beds always made, plenty of towels and supplies, etc.
I do notice walking around though some rooms with piles of clothes, paraphenalia, etc. all over the floor, tables, and furniture and wonder how housekeeping is supposed to attempt to clean. I would neve rexpect thme to move my things left all over the floor to run the sweeper. Nor do I expect thme to gather trash left on tables, sinks, or bureaus. As long as the trash is in the can, I expect them to empty the can which has always happened.
Again, I expect thme to clean th eroom, not clean up after our messes.
I wonder reading th epst, why was a hair dryer left on the floor behind a chair for an entire stay and why woudl you expect housekeeping to move it. could you not place it in a drawer or on a counter. Again, I would not expect housekeeping to move things on the floor to run a sweeper as they are not our personal maids.
Also, how can housekeeping or anyone walk in on a guest. Don't you use the safety latch when in the room?

I urge all who had problems to email and call in their complaints (it might help some other family) We are coming down to Disney in November and staying all ASSP. I certainly expect my room to be clean. My kids are very allergic to dust mites and I do not wish to spend the week at a hospital.

On the other note-we stayed at Pop a few years ago. When arriving I walked into the bathroom and there was feces smeared all over the bottom of the toilet. I called the front desk and a manager came down with a housekeeper. He made her reclean it, screamed at her and did nothing else for my family. I was so afraid that she was fired,(which I did not want to happen) but then saw her later in the week.

I hope we have a much better experience this time and if you call and email your problems-perhaps they will wowrk on fixing them

Thanks

I stayed at All Star Sports for a week in May. I loved it. We had no problems with Mousekeeping, what so ever.

Neither did I. The room was kept clean and towels restocked every day. Only day there was a "towel shortage" was when I left a pair of shorts on the towel rack...

This whole "complaining" thing brings up a bit of a phobia of mine as well. Is anyone else scared to complain while you're there in case you piss off your housekeeper(s)? I know at a restaurant, you're never supposed to complain until you're finished your meal. I know the things that can go on in a kitchen to "complainers". What if you get into a "revenge of the maid" type situation? Anyway, that's more or less an aside but it just came to mind.

It's all in HOW YOU COMPLAIN. You'll get better reaction if you're nice with your complaint than if you act like a major jerk.

We stayed at the music in Jan and it was immaculate, minus mold on the shower curtain, took 2 calls and over 24 hours, but was fixed.

Stayed at Pop last week, barf on floor from previous guest. I called and told them they needed a carpet cleaner, we would be leaving in 30 minutes, within 10 a guy was there and cleaned, but only the little area of the incident.

Burn hole in comforter, again, solved within 10 minutes. Disgusting dirty wall in bathroom and door with mirrow. Looked like someone brushed their teeth at the mirror but missed their mouth, wall looked like chocolate and blood all down it, 3 calls and an hour of frustration on phone, and nothing (2 days of complaints). DH finally just cleaned it. Would have saved everyone some aggrevation if he had done it in the first place! Not that he should have had to.

2 managers were walking by one morning when I stepped out to spray sunscreen, they happen to ask how my room was and I told them it needed a deep cleaning, not everyday stuff, as in door and walls. They said they would send someone to check on it, well DH had fixed it. But got 3 calls overall saying they had come in and taken care of stuff, when it was still there!

No vacuuming done our entire trip. I do not expect it daily, although I do vacuum daily at home. Bathroom and sink were tidy-ed up each day, all I really expect, we don't clean everyday at home and beds made. I feel they are not doing much, but then again I don't clean that way everyday at home. BUT when you stay for 9-10 days it is a long time to not have it cleaned.

It was bad at Movies in June, as well.

The beds were never made properly--the covers were just pulled up, the bedspreads straightened and that was about it. We had to remove the bedspreads and re-make the beds each night before we went to sleep. I certainly don't expect housekeeping to move my things to vacuum (I actually prefer they don't), but I do expect the bathroom floor to be at least swept once in seven days! I made a complaint after day three, but I shouldn't have had to complain in the first place.

It made up my mind about Disney resorts. They're just not worth the expense, any more.

And, FWIW, I've stayed nearly everywhere on Disney property--at all resort levels--since 1989.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has had problems.

We've stayed at Disney twice in the past year; at POP in January and more recently at All-Star Sports in September.

Our mousekeeping was MUCH better at POP. Everything was always nice and clean, everything was always restocked, and EVERY day we had a new towel animal (it may seem like a small detail, but for me it meant a lot)

At All-Star Sports this time, the first night a King room was not available, and we were placed in a Double Double. I don't think it was well cleaned, as there was Mildew all over the shower curtain and the wall! It was a horrible start. My wife called down to the desk and they said they'd send someone up to replace the shower curtain (still mildew on the walls though).

While we were waiting, I noticed there was water puddled on the night stand, under the alarm clock and the TV remote, and my wife noticed the room had not been vaccumed, as there were pieces of candy on the floor. To top it off, the TV was broken! So she called down and was told a housekeeper would be sent to take care of everything, and someone would come to look at the TV. Anyhow, a maintenance guy dropped by and just dropped off a shower curtain. I had to install it myself. A maintenance guy showed up a bit later with a new remote, which of course solved nothing as it was the TV that was broken. So I jumped in the shower, and while I was in the shower they replaced the whole TV.

No mousekeeper ever came by though, and that first night was terrible. Thankfully, the rest of the trip was better, but still not as good as last January. The bed wasn't ever made right, and there was cleaning residue left on the bathroom floor (like this thick white gunk). We were there for 9 more nights and we only got 1 towel animal, and one mickey head. :( And one time we ran out of soap and shampoo (I was using disney stuff, and my wife was using her home shampoo) but they didn't leave any replacements. Oh yeah, we used up the 4 plastic cups in the second night, and never got any more.

I'm soo glad the rest of our trip was AWESOME, because I was a little bit dissapointed with All-Star Sports. We didn't complain about anything but the first night, since all the details were almost insignificant on their own.

I'm looking forward to our stay at AKV in December. :)

Again, I expect thme to clean th eroom, not clean up after our messes.

We didn't expect anyone to clean up our "mess". As I've already mentioned, we are tidy people with minimal belongings. We put our trash in the trash can, our clothes in the dresser, and our souvenirs in our luggage.

I wonder reading th epst, why was a hair dryer left on the floor behind a chair for an entire stay and why woudl you expect housekeeping to move it. could you not place it in a drawer or on a counter.

I obviously didn't purposely leave my hair dryer on the floor behind a chair. It fell off the table at some point and I didn't realize. I would expect that they would have to remove it in order to vaccuum. To me, picking up a hairdryer, if it was the absolute only thing that needed to be moved, is not a big deal.

Again, I would not expect housekeeping to move things on the floor to run a sweeper as they are not our personal maids.

I'm not sure what you're implying here but once again, we are the furthest thing from messy guests. But speaking of maids, actually yes, that's exactly what they are! I realize that they have a difficult job and wouldn't want to have to depend on it for my living but it's still their job to clean the guests' rooms.

Also, how can housekeeping or anyone walk in on a guest. Don't you use the safety latch when in the room?

No, actually, we didn't use our safety latch. I guess we foolishly assumed that the card in the door that had to be removed by the housekeeper in order to get in that said DO NOT DISTURB was sufficient in not being disturbed.

I hope that answers all your questions, Drew, since you seemed to be so confused by my OP.

Hmmmmmmmmm... I am thinking that perhaps he was not quite management material?! :confused3

I actually have on videotape.. from my first ever trip to Disney in 1995 at All Star Music .. we came back from the parks one day, and the mousekeeper had folded all our clothes neatly (we had probably left them everywhere I don't remember) .. I remember being really impressed by that.

More recently, I've stayed at Pop 2x in th last 18 months and once at CSR. Only at CSR did I have any mousekeeping issues and there were relatively minor .. basically it came down to the fact that I think CSR is just ready for some room rehabs.
