So, what are you guys hearing about TD SEVEN... now TS GUSTAV (sorry, can't edit the title)?

I'm focused on www.nhc.noaa.gov since we fly down on Saturday. I know the area has seen it's share of rain with TS FAY.

I'm hoping for Orlando residents sake - and mine - that this storm bypasses the area altogether. It's making me sick to my stomach watching the projected path as I try to work.

I think it is too soon to know what is going to happen. All we can do is watch and wait.

www.wftv.com is a great weather station here in Orlando.

i'm starting the weather watch for DD, who'll be in orlando next week..
i'm keeping my fingers crossed for her...

It's not a tropical depression anymore. It's now Tropical Storm Gustav.

Too early to tell what it's going to do.

It is way too early to know where this one is going but 4 out of 5 computer models have it going into the Gulf which is bad for some of us along the Gulf Coast. Two of those models have it going towards the Yucatan Penninsula while the other two show it going towards the middle of the Gulf :sad2: . We are still getting soaked from Fay up here in the NW portion of FL, don't want another storm so soon.

I really hope it doesn't hit the areas that have suffered (or are still suffering) through all of the rain. I'm sending PD to the weather gods!

starting to think a trip Aug 2009 might not be such a hot idea. :-) Could be a very wet one.

Hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30 so anytime during that and there is a chance for a hurricane. Aug. & Sept. tend to be the busiest for named storms but if there is anywhere that I'd like to be during a hurricane it is WDW. DH & I say that if we have to evacuate for any hurricanes we'll head south to WDW!

What's going on in Disney right now? Does anyone know? Is it raining all day or just a storm and then stopping?? We will be there in 3 days, and it is really rattling me!

Several places you can check out the weather forecast. My favorite is Channel 9 (WFTV) at www.wftv.com/weather

My DH and I have been in DW 4 times when we were hit by hurricaines/tornadoes.
We NEVER felt in danger!!
Everyone at WDW was wonderful! Each time we were at BWV. They had us "snake" around through back ways to get to the convention areas for food. They had activities set up for the kids. We did have food (OK-we had donuts and cookies and pop and a bottle of Jameson's) in our room. The powers that be didn't want anyone walking down on the boardwalk. We never lost power. We never felt fightened or like we were in harms way.
And then the storms past. Each time the next day (or sometimes that afternoon) was glorious! They sun was out...the parks were less crowded. Many of the CM's were unable to get to work....but we never felt that we lacked in anyway. If you're going to experience a storm---that's the way to do it.
I should add----we do go to WDW during good weather too. We aren't bad luck

I don't think Orlando will have much (any) weather impact from Gustav... The only major model that even shows it close to FL has a hit in the panhandle.... And this is a very small compact storm (will be ablut 90 miles wide when it gets it's act together...:sad2:

Most models come together with a hit for this one between New Orleans and Lake Charles as a small but powerful 3 or low 4

HOWEVER... Here is some food for thought anout the one behind it

Disturbance 95L east-northeast of Puerto Rico
A tropical disturbance (95L) near 20N 58W, a few hundred miles east-northeast of Puerto Rico, has a closed surface circulation, as seen on this morning's QuikSCAT pass (Figure 3). This system could develop and be a problem for Bermuda by Monday, and the U.S. East Coast late next week. Visible satellite loops show that wind shear continues to play havoc with this system--strong upper-level winds from an upper level low pressure system to the west are pushing 95L's heavy thunderstorms to the east side of the center of circulation. Wind shear is a high 20 knots over 95L today, but is forecast to decrease below 5 knots on Thursday and remain below 15 knots for most of the remainder of the week. Dry air should not be a problem for 95L. NHC is giving 95L a medium (20%-50% chance) of developing into a tropical depression by Friday. Most of the models develop 95L, foreseeing a northwest track and a threat to Bermuda 4-7 days from now. The latest (2 am EDT) GFDL model run develops 95L into a strong Category 1 hurricane that passes very close to Bermuda on Monday. The HWRF model is more aggressive, predicting a Category 3 hurricane by Saturday, that then weakens to a Category 1 hurricane by the time it nears Bermuda on Monday. In the longer range, it appears that 95L will stall in the Bermuda area and move slowly, as steering currents collapse early next week. By the end of next week, the storm may scoot northward towards Canada (as predicted by the GFS model), or head west-southwestward into the Bahamas and Florida (as predicted by the ECMWF model). It is too early to guess which of these solutions is more likely.

because the one behind Gustav is the one I'm watching!!! Scheduled to arrive MCO mid morning on 9/5. I just want to get there!! I will deal with whatever happens then. JUST GET ME THERE!!!
