We will be in DL for the weekend of Aug 5th, I'm hoping it will cool down with a bit of rain that weekend.

I know it can get really hot this time of the year. So, I've been watching the weather for Anaheim. I haven't seen any rain this summer so far, is this normal for summer in Anaheim?

Quite normal. The winter is our rainy season. Summer is usually very, very dry. In fact, statistically, August has the lowest average rainfall (0.01 inches) of all the months in Anaheim. So..... the temperatures will be cooler than they will be in Vegas, but I highly doubt it will rain.

We are there then, so I hope not :sad2: We get too much here in England and would like to get away from it for 2 weeks :rotfl2:

August is usually one of the hottest months of the year in the bottom half of California - Rain is very unlikely.

So, unless I specifically see rain in the forecast, no need to pack the rain gear for a mid-August visit? It poured on us in May...

Ditto!! We are also coming from the UK then and like this person says we see enough rain to last us a lifetime, want to get away from it while we are in Cali!!

We roasted when we visited in April! It was 85. Vegas that would be beautiful weather. Were not used to humidity of anykind. So I'm a little concerned. Looks like afternoon hotel swims coming up!

We hardly get any rain here in Las Vegas, I would love a downpour! :yay:

Just great. Still hoping for rain. :goodvibes

We had an unusually cold and wet spring in California this year, with rain off and on into June. July has been weird. We've had some hot days and some that are downright cool. We rarely have any measurable rain in July and August. It's not totally unheard of, but not a common occurance. I would be very surprised if it rained in early August in Anaheim. It's more likely to be anywhere from the 80s to downright hot! Bring the sunscreen. Drink plenty of water...but don't worry about bringing raingear!:)

Last year wasn't a typical August here in So. Cal. It was a very mild summer. In August temps were mostly in the 70's, but for a few days we had some quick spikes in the 90's. We also had some days with heavy drizzle. If it does rain here in August, it's probably due to monsoonal weather and you know that brings high humdity. The NWS is currently predicting a high to move West into So. Cal next week, bringing heat and humdity with chances of thunderstorms. So, just be prepared.

Last year's summer was highly out of the ordinary in terms of being very mild (and I am not a hot weather fan at all, or a fan of anything over 75 degrees, so if I'm telling you it was mild, it was mild!:rotfl2::rotfl2:). Basically, we had what I would call a "delayed summer," in which June, July and even to some degree August, were below normal compared to what they would normally be. (I didn't feel like the skin was burning off of my face for once, so I knew it was mild.)

However, once September rolled around...that's when all the fun (NOT!) summer weather kicked in, and suddenly Los Angeles experienced its hottest day in recorded history. September was miserable for me. It was 113 degrees in some places, 118 in others.:scared1: It was a delayed summer - like summer was playing 'catch up'!

October was alternately hot, then rainy. November had some days in the 80's. And on my Christmas DLR trip, two of my days were in the 90's and upper 80's - in December! It was hot enough for my peppermint ice cream to instantly start melting as I exited Gibson Girl Ice Cream on Main Street.

So far, in 2011, July has been more normal for this time of year than it was last year. We've had more hot weather than we did last year - and we have actually had much more humidity than we normally have! It has not been as dry as it usually is. But it's still not been as hot as some Julys are.

Since July has been more normal, temperature-wise, than last year, I am thinking August will probably be back on track, too, and will resume its status of being one of the hottest months of the year, sometimes being very, very, very hot.

I think rain in August is going to be next to impossible.

Im leaving Winter behind here in Australia to get some sun! I dont care how hot it gets cant be as hot as a Humid day in the middle of Summer in Sydney!

Pack raingear? My advice...save the space for your souveniers. :thumbsup2 The chances of it raining in August with any significance that you would need raingear are almost slim to none.

It does cool off once the sun goes down...but that's about it.

We were there last august & the weather was hot, the boys swam everyday & we even went on Grizzly River, which we never do unless it's nice, sunny & dry.

I like rainy days at DL, the park just gets this moist fresh smell :goodvibes

Its been strange weather and unseasonable here in Vegas too. Its been a mild summer so far as heat goes. Our Monsoon season seemed to me like it came a bit early this summer.

That's the great thing about DL, the evenings during summertime. :goodvibes

Maybe you could bring or buy a personal mister? :flower3:

Good advice. But I'll get one at the dollar store here! They wanted $20 when we visited in April! :sad2:

I would love to smell that smell, its been awhile. Rain is a treat for us desert rats. :)

You can make a trip up north to San Francisco we have been having drizzly weather all week! :headache:

I live in Seattle and would love to have warm weather!! Its been so cold this year with temps not even reaching 85 yet... Mostley 60's and 70's. We are going down to southern cali in Sept hoping for good weather I really want to play on the beach with my 2 year old !!!! :confused3

Ummm.... okay, here's the deal. I'm a So Cal native. Let me just put it this way. If I was planning a August, So Cal, outdoor wedding with 500 people and had no inside area at all at the location, I would not even give a minute of thought to paying for a tent of any kind.

It's August.

It's So Cal.

Rain? You might be better off buying a lottery ticket during your trip. :goodvibes

P.S. Now, wishing for cooler temps, that might happen. It's been weird this year.

We will be in DL for the weekend of Aug 5th, I'm hoping it will cool down with a bit of rain that weekend.
