This forum is such a great wealth of information. I'm in the beginning stages of acquiring a resale at SSR. Offer accepted and deposit sent. Still a long way to go. We took the tour and were prepared to buy, but they did such a poor job with us, we didn't feel bad about looking at a resale after the tour and sales pitch (they never took us seriously). I've got a few questions I haven't been able to find answers for.

1. Do you need to have points in order to make a reservation? An example would be if I used up my allotment of points for this year already and found that we could make another trip. Would I have to have those points borrowed before making a reservation or could the reservation be made and the points transferred after? Or would we have to ask the availability, borrow the points and call back to make the reservation?

2. Is there Magical Express to Vero Beach? That wouldn't effect my decision to stay there, just something I was curious about.

3. There are a few parks where if we used our points (Japan for example) the park admission is included. Is that for everyone staying in the room or do they give you, say 2 admissions and you'd have to pay for everyone else?

MS will not allow you to borrow points until you are actually making a reservation that will use them. So for your example, you could call MS and if there were availability for your dates, MS would borrow the points for you and make the reservation. No need to make more than one call if you have the points in the next use year to borrow.

2. Is there Magical Express to Vero Beach? That wouldn't effect my decision to stay there, just something I was curious about.

No ME to Vero. However, it's better to have a car if you're staying there, anyway.

Don't know the answer to this one for sure. I believe the admissions are limited depending on the room type, and I think that the limit is less than the maximum occupancy of the room. Maybe someone else will know, but that is a question for MS. Not sure if anyone who posts here has used points to stay at the Tokyo or Hong Kong Resorts and it may be different than the Paris Resorts.

Rules about when you can make a reservation are separate from rules about when you can use your points. 7 and 11 month windows dictate when you can make a reservation. Use years, borrowing and banking windows dictate when you can use your points, not when you can make a reservation.

That's good to hear. I was worried that I would have to borrow points and be stuck with them if something I wanted wasn't available.
