We’re scheduled to leave Dallas on Friday the 19th for The World. Like most of the country and all of Texas, we’re experiencing record cold temps, snow, and ice. Right now, no change in flight status for us on Friday, but DFW International Airport has canceled tons of flights.

Obviously, safety comes first. Beyond that, I’m hoping for some serious Pixie dust!

And the issue may not even be in Dallas. If the plane you are assigned to go on is stranded somewhere else (never makes it TO Dallas), that can put a crimp in your plans also.

I am with you .. my daughter is turning 25 and has booked her first solo trip to Disney. She leaves on the 18th....so a day earlier than you. I will be sending pixie dust for you and her!! It looks good now if you go on the Dallas Love filed site ... but you cant mess with mother nature....

We leave on Friday too, but from California, so hoping the weather elsewhere in the country won't affect our flights, but again, safety first.

Well my daughter's flight was cancelled ; ( Said most flights are cancelled through Saturday ;(

So we rebooked everything for next week, only change of price was ticket seems they are a bit more on our new dates.

it has been years but daughters baton group had their return flight from Orlando snowed out and canceled. plane could not leave Detroit. was not easy to rebook a group of 30 on same flight

I was able to determine the flight is coming from Orlando, so that’s better news.

If it's going Orlando -> Dallas -> Orlando, it probably just cycles between the two cities. I personally would not stress about the plane getting to the city before mine.

does not always work that way their flight was to BWI from Orlando and the plane came from Detroit

Snow isn't such a big deal if you're in a northern city. Ice is going to be problematic anywhere.

A lack of (or non-existent) deicing equipment in a southern city will shut anybody down. You know if you park your car outside overnight and you come back and there's a thin layer of frost or ice on it? Yeah, you can just scrape off a little bit of your windshield and go. A little bit of ice on the wings of an airplane is a big deal and that plane isn't going anywhere until it is properly removed.
