Hope for the Older Women

Remember those old surveys that said that a woman over a certain age had a higher chance of being killed by terrorists (and this was pre 9/11) than getting married.

I had a mini-reunion with several friends this past week and here's a recap:

Age 64, divorced 25+ years, engaged getting married in October
Age 61, widowed 15 years, engaged
Age 56, married in March after being divorced for 30 years
Age 62, married in July - FIRST marriage
Age 62, married in May after being divorced for 27 years

Me - age 57, single, wearing a button to RNC convention saying "Single, looking for Mr. Right".

LOL! Thanks, Tricia!! Especially the one of the widow remarrying after 15 years. I'm widowed 11.5 years and am ready to...well, let's not get into that. I had a date the other night (I should probably say I'm in my 40s.) with a guy who was three years younger than me. I found it an offbeat night as it was, but when he made a statement about my never getting remarried, it took me by surprise. No, I've just fairly recently actually entertained the thought seriously. Hmmm. LOL! Then he asked me why I want to remarry! I can give him 1,000 reasons for that! Ha! It's nice to see I shouldn't give up just yet. Maybe in 30 years or so. Have FUN at the convention!!!!! And wear that sign!

My 61 year old mother will be marrying her childhood neighbor. Her third marriage; married young, got divorced, married in her 30s, then widowed.

It's so cool to hear her gushing like a teenager.
