We will be going the first week of August and are only going two days during the week. We have been several times before but always with a parkhopper. We will be there at RD both mornings and will stay until closing both nights and we play hard. (One can get in so many rides from 8-11) So the plan right now is to do one day in DL and one day in DCA and not hop. But would it be better to just pay the 40.00 per ticket for the hopper?

Will you be able to see all the night shows you want without hopping? That's where we usually get tripped up.

We have seen the night shows and are thinking about skipping some of them. We have a 20 and a 17 year old and they want to get in as many rides as they can. Would like to see PTN and Fireworks and maybe WOC.

Hopping is better since you can hold simultaneous Fast Passes in each park. You can make the most of your time.

Well worth the $40 to hop. You can take advantage of the late shows now offered in DL since DCA closes earlier even if you've spent your whole day there.

Never thought about that.....

Hop! Always, just cause it is so easy! And cause sometimes a beer beckons from DCA. And for a ride on Radiator Springs Racers both days. And for the water rides at both parks in hot hot hot August. And to end your last day an hour after closing while the last few customers finish shopping and security is still waiting at the hub to sweep out the stragglers ON MAIN STREET USA!! Love it there! Have fun!

We don't always hop. I know we're in the monitory. We are leaving next weekend and will have two days in the park. We have APs but the girls invited a friend who doesn't. We told her mom not to spend the $40 extra on the hopper. if she doesn't want to. Sometimes it's fun to hop but by no means necessary. :)

We generally like to hop. However, we decided not to hop during a two-day trip last June. We flew in early on a Friday morning and figured the earliest we would get into a park that day was 10:00 a.m. It was cheaper for four of us to skip the hoppers and get two-day, one-park tickets. We ended up getting into CA by 9:30 a.m. We stayed until around 9:00 p.m. The next day we got up early and got to DL for rope-drop. I think we stayed until around 11:00 p.m. It worked out well since we had such a short amount of time. If we have three or more park days, we definitely hop.

Yes, this!

We just had our final day in the parks for the week. Park hopping has been a God send for us because in the afternoon, DLP had been absolutely PACKED with strollers, scooters, and screaming cranky children. We've been going over for a beer in DCA and given how much better it's designed to handle crowds, we can kick back and catch our breath a little.

Just my two cents.

I don't think it's necessary to hop on a 2 day trip especially if seeing the shows isn't a big concern. Although I find it hard to spend a long day at DCA and even with hoppers, I spend most of the day at Disneyland. Guess it depends on how many attractions in each park you're interested in.

Well put. We also enjoy DL more and devote more than half our total vacation time at the resort in DL vs DCA. For us, at least, there is so much more to see and experience at Disneyland and like to spend the majority of our time there.

Given that you really make good use of your day at the park, I strongly recommend you hop. It gives you much more choice so if it's busy in one place you simply go to another.
And while DCA is a great park, there's nothing like heading back over to DL to get back to Walts park and take it in at night.

Is it necessary or better to hop if you are doing 4 days - 2 days in each park? Thanks!

At least for us, DCA is not a full day park (especially not two days) and after a few hours it leaves me wanting for DL.
We go for 5 days and would never even consider not park hopping.
