Just wanted to let the board know about a "heckofadeal!" I scored today. I booked our room at the Polynesian resort- full price- last year (Oct 2011). I put down my refundabe deposit of $200. We paid the remaining balance on the trip last week. We are staying 11/29 through 12/03 (DH, DD-8, DS-11, and me) with 3 day hopper. I have been checking in online to view all the various "deals" in hopes of rebooking, but never could find availability at the Poly.
SO...this morning I played around with the 30% off promo, still with no availability at PR. I changed my res dates while checking rates, and found that 11/30 - 12/03 was available for the promo at an $879 savings! So here's what Disney reservations was able to do when I called:
We booked a "room only" for one night at the Poly at $342 for Nov 29. This (apparently) is at a discount. We then booked a second reservation for 11/30 through 12/03 - same resort, same room (so no moving) at the highly discounted rate. I was able to keep all my dining reservations and same confirmation numbers. The agent "tied-in" my two reservations to notify staff on check-in. FIngers crossed that all goes as smoothly as it should when we check in 5 weeks and 6 days from now! :hourglass

Total savings- over $500! whew!!

That is great. I love savings.

One thing you need to think about is your tickets. I'm not sure what you had planned for the first day (late arrival or park day), but if the first night is room only and the package doesn't start until the next day, you won't have tickets day one.

I've heard some people have been able to get their package tickets early, but it is something you will need to look into.

:thumbsup2 Your post shows that even though the deluxes are expensive, there are really great deals out there that can make them more affordable that a lot of people think!

I'm trying to talk my husband into doing a conference at Disney this winter. We could get the Contemporary for $189/night (before taxes)! You just can't beat a discount like that!

Maggie-
I did ask the agent about this. We are not planning to visit the parks the day we check-in, but we will definately be hitting the parks first thing the next morning. The agent felt that we would not have any problems, but I do plan to call back prior to arriving just to be sure. I have a vision of approaching the "magic" gates only to be turned away!:sad1: LOL! Fingers crossed!

We've had our reservations linked together( first night room only and then a package) and you do have to recheck in the next morning. That is when you will get your park tickets.
