Okay, I'm back & forth on this... I went to HDD yrs ago as a kid and I remember it being really fun. This year is the first time my daughter will be at Fort Wilderness and I'm thinking of booking HDD for our check-in day. We're on a budget - IS IT WORTH THE $$$??? Or pass for a cheaper place to eat and free entertainment elsewhere? What is your IMMEDIATE GUT feeling. Don't reason on it, just nay or yay! :confused3

We are always on a budget. I have always felt it was money well spent. BTW we like sitting in the upper tier.

My Gut reaction and my Well thought out answer would be the same HDDR all the way. It is a great show with good food.
It made my heart warm that my now adult DS took his DS and DD to the HDDR, just like I had taken him as a child. His memories compelled a visit for his own children.
It is a great evening. (Not Gourmet food though!)

Thanks! Looking for more responses? We're totally not looking for gourmet, but good. :goodvibes

Hoop rocks! You should do it at least once!

The show is a lot of fun but the food isn't anything special. Pretty good picnic type fare, fried chicken, ribs, etc.

The show today is the same show that you saw as a kid. The food is average to above average, and it's the same food made in the same kitchen as the Trail's End Buffet. There isn't a bad seat in the house so don't pay extra to upgrade to a better category.

Okay, okay, I think you convinced me. I was leaning towards going, now I've officially jumped the fence! Thanks for the input! :yay:

The guide book I was reading said that those on the 1st tier/floor level got to interact with the performers, but the other tiers were just observers. Is that true? What kind of interaction is there, and does it happen with everyone on the floor level, or just one table kind of thing???

Thank you.

It's all over. At one point they'll ask for people who are having birthdays, anniversaries, that sort of thing.
Another time they sing a little ditty about what state you are from.
Another is they ask who came the farthest.
And they do go up in the balconey!

The performers wander around the tables and maybe pick out a few people and ask them where they are from etc. Six or so are asked to come up on stage to take part in the show. They miss a good portion of the show because they are back stage. Not worth it IMO.

Here is the Disney website for HDD. Check out the link to the seating chart.
