What is it like? What makes it entertaining? Would my girls who are 4 and 6 already tired at the end of a day enjoy this? I am so hesitant...:confused3

Perfect ages! Enjoy. No hesitation! Very engaging. My shy DS4 loved it. If the meal doesn't appeal to the kiddos (served family style), you can ask for a kids meal as well (run of the mill Disney kid food).

As a kid, HDD was my favorite! The show takes place all around you, and the cast members are very engaging, especially with the kids! The food is good, and it's fun to eat family style. I really think they'd enjoy it!

If you're worried about them being too tired, stop mid-day and take a break to swim and take a rest. You can always book a later seating to give you time to take a break.

We love the Hoop Dee Doo Review. I have been with my family when my kids were young, now with DS and his children at about those ages and also with all adults. We had a blast each time.
DGS about age 4 was chosen to go on stage as part of the show. It was priceless.
It is a western themed show with singing, dancing and corny jokes. The performers come out into the audience and there is audience participation. It is lively and tons of fun.
The food is "down home cooking" with Fried Chicken, Ribs, salad, corn bread, mashed potates and beans. It is served family style in "buckets" and it is all you care to eat. Dessert is a delicious Strawberry Shortcake. We love the food. There is also beer, wine and sangria included for the adults.
We think the show is a hoot, and the food is very good. It is well worth it and I think your children are the perfect age.
As a PP suggested, I would take a rest break in the afternoon before the dinner so you little ones are rested and can have a ball.
Enjoy

My DD's first trip was when she was 7 (almost 8) and she loved, loved, loved it. They really engage the kids and it is fun. It's definitely slap stick type of entertainment, but it seemed those most entertained were young children and seniors. I loved, it too. I liked the food. Granted it was our first night there and we were starved, but it was tasty!

HDDR is a must do for us on every trip. DD loved it on her first trip at 4 years old and still loves it today at 9. Even DS had a great time last year. We enjoy the food and the included beer/wine/sangria.

We usually plan it for dinner on our no park day. We do a late breakfast at Chef Mickey's and then the middle dinner show. Then we spend the afternoon at the pool or downtown disney or something.

The HDD has been a hit with every member of our family that we've recommended it to. My dad loves it so much that he picks it almost without fail as his birthday dinner when we go over his birthday. Mom and I just have fun with the show as a whole. We've taken two of my friends to it and both had a ball (at ages 19 and 20 respectively). My aunt, uncle, and two female cousins both went at our recommendation and came back with nothing but praise for it (my uncle especially loved the bottomless beers!)

We've seen so many kids enjoying it, too. I loved it when I was younger (my first showing was when I was around 9) and we continue to see kids of all ages laughing along with the actors.

The all-you-can-eat food is also pretty darn awesome!

I didn't read the others posts.. but my 2 boys 4 and 5 did not like the show. In fact they fell asleep at the table and we left early. I think it was really cheezy and hokey, and just not for us. But I'm one of very few. If you go to the top of the page and search "hoop de do" you'll see lots of there threads come up with reviews/information on the show.

Good luck :)

We love it and it's one of our Must Dos on every trip! This time, both my husband and my son got picked to be part of the show. We love the food and the atmosphere. It's just a really good time.

(Our kids are 8, 8, 6 and 5.)

Yes! Yes! Yes! Go! Perfect ages! Not too young...they will enjoy it! It is hysterical and music that is catchy, with funny things with food and not too shabby food! Go!!
