And how large is your family?
Some folks over on the DDP dining forum are seriously slamming the Hoop-Dee-Doo. Cheesy show, old costumes, so so food. Is it that bad ?? I've heard such great things about it on this board so I am confused.
- Is it that the other people are just used to more high end places and resorts and maybe not into camping ??
- Do the Fort Wilderness regulars just love it because of the experience and maybe because of the nostalgia ??
If this show wasn't at The Fort, would you still go to it ??

When my entire family goes, there are quite a few of us. Which is why we don't normally do the Hoop Dee Doo, because of the price.
If it's just my wife and I, then sometimes we plan on going, other times we don't even think about it.
Like I said, it's not that I don't agree on the fact that we wish it was cheaper. I just don't look at the fact that we can't always afford it in the same light as you do, that's allIn the end, we both want the same thing though. As I've said before, I wish I could go to the Hoop Dee Doo every time we go, it's just not feasible however.
Wow we found it to be a blast with our large group in Dec we had 17 people with us for the show and dinner and it made it such a memorable time especially when the performers came to our table and made my brother in law go as red as a beete LOL.

Oh don't get me wrong, sometimes our entire family will go! In fact, for my 30th Birthday we spent it at the Fort and my entire family was there, we went to the Hoop Dee Doo with about 10 of us in total, it was a blast!
It's easier if you get everyone to kind of pay for themselves, it's not nearly as bad that way (of course, someone still has to pay for the kids...lol).
It is also easy if you are on the dining plan as all but our family was so 12 of the 17 people had no worry but even still I equate that to the cost of taking my mother and father in law and one of our friends from Cali to the Cali Grill to the tune of 500 US for the meal for the 5 of us. The kids all stayed at the resort so our 3 were entertained by their cousins LOL. That was just food costs not including drinks with drins the meal was over 650.
Yea, the good thing is you're not only paying for food, you're also getting to see a great show (although that's up to personal opinion...lol)! That's why the price doesn't bother me as much as it would if it was just the food (which would make no sense), there is no other show like it in Disney World, and actually, I've never seen another show like it anywhere near where I live!
You are exactly right, there are some places you can go to eat and easily spend twice as much money, and just get an hour long meal (and as you mentioned, no drinks!).
For 50- 59 bucks, for all you can eat, all you can drink, taking up a couple of hours, and getting a really good show at that, I think it's worth the money. It adds up the more people you go with, but that's to be expected.
Okay, I thought you had kids yourself .......my bad![]()
Hmm..I thought I remembered one of the performances being less expensive at one point. Maybe I was thinking of the old Mickey Luau for the kids at the Poly. They used to have a 4:30 performance..earlier than the night time one..and geared for the kids. We've been to the 7:30 performance of the HDDR so as to catch the Electric Water Pagent on Bay Lake afterward. I thought I had seen that they weren't offering three performances a night all year round any longer.
The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue is planning to scale back its schedule during the Low Fall season of 2007. From August 30 - October 29, 2007, the dinner show is scheduled to perform Thursday through Monday only.
Didn't they used to offer a 9:30 performance for this show..I know it was a while back..but if I remember correctly that particular performance was less money also? My kids were young at the time, and I remember thinking by the time we would be done the younger two would be falling a sleep in their seats. However..I have to tell you going with young adult kids now(youngest being 15..and he could put me to sleep!)...that would be a nice alternative.
They do have a 9:30 show and that is when the discounts are offered. I have used my DDE card to get 20% off.
