Hoop Dee Doo =X

Disney Dining Experience card. You basically can get 20% of on most meals/drinks/etc... Instead of me paraphrasing, here is some more info:

Disney Dining Experience
The Disney Dining Experience (DDE) is a discount program that was originally offered only to Florida residents. In 2005 it was opened up to Annual Passholders, too.

The DDE program grants participants a discount of 20% off of their total food and beverage purchases (including alcohol) at most WDW dining locations. The cost for an annual DDE membership is as follows:

General Membership (Florida Residents ONLY): $85.00
Annual Passholders' Rate: $60.00
Florida Resident (non-Passholder) Renewals: $70.00 (for existing memberships received within 30 days of expiration date)
Add a second membership for your spouse or partner for only $25 more
Click HERE for a current list of Disney dining locations currently participating in the DDE program.

The 20% discount is applied for up to ten (10) diners on the same check at an eligible dining location. Other benefits include:

Half price admission to Pleasure Island for the cardholder and one (1) guest.
Complimentary parking at a theme park for short periods for the sole purpose of dining within the theme park. Guests must pay for parking upon arrival and can then obtain a refund at Guest Relations following their dinner.
Invitation to DDE special events.

DDE discounts cannot be combined with any other dining discount program.

There are a number of blackout dates for the DDE including New Year’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Character meals are eligible for the DDE discount. However, the DDE discount is not available on Fantasmic Dinner Packages.

We've been using it for a while, simply as Florida residents. I think it's nice that they've opened it up to AP holders as well now, it really is a great discount card.

A prime example, let's just say that we've saved QUITE a bit of money at the Rose and Crown in Epcot. We've had some bar tabs in the hundreds with larger groups of people, and it really is nice to be able to use it towards alcohol as well. Even if you're just getting a single drink, it's kind of nice. For instance, if I get a rum and coke or a beer, and it's $5.00, with the DDE card, it's only $4.00, that 20% just makes you feel good...lol.

You can use it almost anywhere in Disney, and 20% off of meals is a humungous benefit throughout a trip. We use it for tons of meals, especially during our long Thanksgiving trip (although it's blacked out on Thanksgiving Day), we normally save one to two hundred dollars depending on how much we eat away from the camper. We've found the card pays for itself after about 4 days of use on average.

I've always wondered how much Disney profits from offering things to Florida residents (although as I said, this is now available to AP holders as well), such as how much extra business they assume it brings in.

Thanks for the 411. Not a bad deal, for $85. We are seasonal passholders, and try to go 4-5x a year.

Where does one purchase it?:cool1:

No fifty lashes with the wet noodle here but..let me ask this... We have quite a few relatives living in Fl. Quite possibly someone already has one. Would I be able to use one of their cards? :confused3

DVC members can also get the DDE cards and from what I have heard many DVCers love it and prefer it to the dining plan. Plus they apparently get a healthy discount on it. We rarely eat meals outside our villa so DDP and DDE are of no real importance to us when we only eat 1 to 2 meals out in a week so 4 total in our 2 week holiday.

We have used others quite a few times, no worries :)

Also note, WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) will book priority seatings for guests who are members of Disney Dining Experience.

Yep, they only have to pay 60 bucks compared to what the rest of us pay, $85.00. Nice discount indeed!

Unfortunate, that DDE, does no benefit to a young family or old:guilty:

Please, there is no age requirement, or anything restricting a family from getting it. The only restrictions are that you be a Florida resident, an AP holder, or a DVC club member. What, are only middle aged families allowed to be those?

Come on :/

I don't think there is alot of families with kids 0-9 attending the 9:30pm show...:sad2:

all you need to do is spend $425 and you've broken even.... Heck, lunch alone was $35 last time at Epcot.

How does a DDE benefit a young family who would like to take in the hddr?

Yea, that's the great thing about it, it doesn't take long, and it's already payed for itself. After that, you're getting "free" money!

I'm just happy that it is accepted pretty much all over the world, they easily could have restricted it, especially when they increased the amount of people it was available to, but they didn't.

I wonder if they'll ever make it available, but at an obviously higher price, outside of the current Florida resident/AP/DVC restrictions they have on it now?

Oh one other thing, the Disney Dining Experience discount cannot be combined with any other discount or package. This includes events such as Fantasmic Dinner Package, Epcot Food and Wine Festival Events, and Candlelight Dinner Packages.

I know a lot of people do these packages, and the discount would be nice for them if they had it. Especially the Food and Wine festival, it's wayyyyyy too easy to spend money at that thing, it's like a smorgasbord of food! lol

I don't think that's true at all. There were lots of places on that list that participated. I can see how ANYONE would save money. :) :) :)

If saving money AND going to the Hoop-Dee-Doo were that big of a deal for you...just let the kids take naps that afternoon and stay up late for the 9:30 show. It's a vacation...no one says they have to go to bed at a certain time. And what a special treat for them ;)

I would love to hear how the 9:30 show goes for 0-9 families......and if the savings would be worth the inconvience of staying out of the parks for 2-days so you can get your 2 naps before show and have a shot morning after?

9:30 start 11:30 finish +or- should be back at the campsite by 12:00am.;)

Increasing the age limit and or reducing the child price would be a more sensible alternative....imo

Wow your kids must crash hard our 4 and 5 year olds are up till about midnight almost every night we are on holidays at Disney and they are both up for 7 AM the next day they take after me night owls and morning people I go t bed at 3 or 3:30 AM every night and I am up for 6:30 to get them ready for school.

You have to stay out of the parks for 2 days because you want to take your kids to the Hoop Dee Doo at 9:30?

I understand it's hard to get kids to stay up late, but we've had my nephew up many a time that late at Disney, and when we were kids, we saw quite a few shows that late. Just take a nap, and you don't need to miss 2 park days to do it, jeesh, no drama please! ;)

P.S. I was going to say the same thing as F4disneyfan , I know lots of kids that are up that late, midnight or so at Disney. Just plan your time accordingly, you won't miss anything. And I'm sorry in advance if for some reason your kids have to be in bed by 9 PM every night.

No drama ....

I love hearing it from families with kids.......:thumbsup2

Not many parents I know that have kids with that kinda clock...

9:30 show is a no go for my family and a majority young families imo....

Sounds like the Hoop Dee Doo is not for you, maybe the campfire sing-a-long is a better choice, or perhaps a show at another resort?

I see lots of kids outside the 9:30 shows, it's not only adults. To each their own, I guess we're lucky to have a young nephew that can stay up so late!

My kids would be starving by 9:30 even with a late lunch. Nap?!! My kids are 9 & 7 -NAP at Disney?! Never going to happen-in their minds they might miss something. i know I'm probably one of the few who's kids won't nap-but it would be nice. Good thought.:goodvibes
