I'm having a real tough time trying to secure Hoop Dee Doo for the 5pm show. I'm on the DDP and it shows availability, but not for catergory 2 or 3. Would they take a walk up?

Im gonna say No they don't. You could try or call the dinning number. But I believe it is advanced ressies only.

They used to take walk ups but the problem is they will still be in the wrong category for the DDP, Is it possible on the plan to pay extra to bump up to the available category? That is an idea.

The reason you cannot secure a Category 1 seating is because the dining plan doesn't allow for that. You probably need to call and tell them you want to upgrade to a Cat. 1. You can also call about walk ups. They used to take walk-ups but only after 15 minutes into the show then they would give the "no show" tables away.

So if I call and they say they only have category 1 available, I can book a catergory 2 and then pay the difference to go to catergory 1?

I believe so. I have not done the DDP but have read in the past that there is a way to upgrade to Cat 1.

Just hung up the phone with DD and was told there is no way to upgrade to catergory 1. :sad2:

No, you cannot upgrade to Category 1. You can, however, book Category 1 with the DDP if you go to the 9:30 show. ;)

we went during FD to the 5pm show and it was silly. All the back rows and the balcony were filled, but the front was completely empty. I kept wondering why in the world they didn't move everyone up. It took away from the show seeing the whole place deserted in front of us. Also, it was so COLD in there (the last week of August) from the A/C that they were bringing out tablecloths to wrap the children in. :confused3

Dh decided last night we wants to do HDDR (after me asking him way before our 90days  ) Anyway i was checking for it last night and nothing was available not even the 930 show. I checked today and the 930 show is available. We dont want that time. But it just shows that things do open up. I would keep checking everyday. If nothing opens by your trip time i would ask at the lobby who knows maybe you will get something? HDDR has a CC reserve so those who booked it and decide they cant go on the trip will def be canceling this ressie so they dont get charged for it. Im thinking on the 45days out or 30days out you will see availability, at least i hope lol!
Good Luck!

1) Just set things straight.
2) You can go to HDDR and see if a walk-up is available for that show.
3) There are people who back out at the last minute or no-show.
4) I cannot give you a percentage, but several times a week, walk-ups get in.

NOTE: Do not expect to get in for vacant Cat-1 seats if you are on DDP, unless you pay OOP. They will not violate the rule, or it sets a dangerous precedent. They want the extra cash a Cat-1 seat delivers and do not want DDP people to use a past incident as a reason to argue for a Cat-1 seat.

I too inquired about this to find that it is not permitted. They did tell me a bit more though. Their system cannot break the cost out to allow for upgrading a DDP reservation.

I know that it doesn't make it any less of a letdown, but sometimes knowing the reasons behind the "no" can be helpful.
