My family and I just got back from our August trip. Had a blast! The very favorite thing we did for the first time was the Hoop Dee Doo Revue.....it was an amazing time!! Definitely didn't think we'd love it as much as we did. All of the performers were excellent. DH and DS11 and I all laughed SO hard throughout the performance. We were also seated right up front which was fantastic. Although the way it is set up there is no bad seat in the house. One of the female performers even chose my DS to lead the "washboard" parade at the end of the evening. He had a blast and has such great memories from the whole thing. Oh and SANGRIA is now the new favorite drink of DH and I!! Highly recommend booking this event!

I agree.

Gotta love the HOOP!

This is one of the highlights of our trip - every year. We never get tired of it :goodvibes.

Great to hear that!
WE booked Hoop for our upcoming Nov trip and we have no idea what to expect. The family has never been to Disney World, let alone the Hoop De Doo Revue. Very much looking forward to it. Also, my kids are 11 and 14 and it seems that alot of kids that age enjoy it too. YaY:banana:

HDDR and bottomless Sangria always spells a great WDW evening for us!!:thumbsup2

I am so glad that there are so many rave reviews for the HDDR! I have never been and my BF and I are planning on going when we go in Dec! There is just the two of us. You said you had a son, do you think we will still have fun being just us, two adults? :)

Expect corney humour, don't take it too seriously, and you will have a fantstic time. The humour seems to be geared to the 10-14 age group, but as an adult, I enjoy it trememdously. We go every year, and have seen it about 40 times. Each time I see it, the show is the same, yet different. We wouldn't miss it for the world.

There was a thread earlier with a negative "revue" of HDDR. The main reason for the negativity (and I'd agree in this case) was the fact that the OP was seated in a back corner near the kitchen. We were "almost" seated there once ourselves, but I had had HDDR booked 5 months or so, felt the seating was unacceptable, and complained, after which we were moved to a much more acceptable location. The OP in that thread should have done the same, IMO.

So if you are seated in a bad spot, but made ressies long ago, make sure to make your feelings known at the time. They'll move you if they can.

As for the show, we love it. A lot of corny jokes, and nothing that isn't suitable for little ears. The food has been better in the past than it was in our 2010 experience. They changed the baked beans to some variety that had little taste, and the chicken was quite dry. Even the strawberry shortcake wasn't as good as it has been. Hopefully they'll revert to better food again. But I love the bottomless sangria and/or beer, though the beer is definitely that "watered down" kind often served in situations like that.

All in all, I still think HDDR is worth it.

Going in a few weeks and can't wait. I think it is a great way to start out our Disney trip on a non park day!:cool1:

The Hoop De Doo review is a staple for mother and I. So much fun! It never gets old, and the food is good too. The only negative I have to say about it is that the bathrooms are located outside the building, it can be a pain when you really need to go. If you have little children it might be a good idea to go with them because it is confusing layout. Other then that 5 out of 5 stars :thumbsup2

I think as long as you know that the jokes will be corny, the room will be loud, and the servers will bang buckets of food on the table, you'll have a great time. I always feel very taken care of with the great show, unlimited food and sangria, and the very capable servers. I am looking forward to seeing it for probably the 5th or 6th time this year.

I'm in the minority as part of the HoopDeHaters Club!:lmao:

I thought the entertainment was awful, the food was horrid, and that the whole thing was a waste of time. We had quite a good table too, so that wasn't the reason. I haven't been back and it's been quite a number of years so maybe it's gotten better but I doubt we'll be trying it any time soon.

I'll be there on Thursday for the first time-it will be my WDW vacation kickoff! I can't wait!:banana:

I have yet to go to Hoop, But it is one of our MUST-DO's on are next trip!! I can't wait!!

I think the purpose of the HDDR is to help guests relax by experienceing something a little unusual along with a nice meal!

If you don't like corny jokes or folk songs, you need to go elsewhere. It's not like you can't preview everything at WDW on YouTube.

That is very true about speaking up if you don't like your seats.....we actually JUST did that last week at Ragland Rd Pub.....stuck us all the way in the back dining room......we were there celebrating my DH 50th birthday.....I wanted him to see the whole irish dancing show.....hostess was amazing and gracious.....5 minutes later we were being seated directly next to the center stage where all the dancing takes place.....totally agree.....speak up if bad seat.....can set the tone for your entire evening.....better it be a great tone!

As for the food at Hoop----last week it was fantastic IMO! Really loved it all.

YES---IMO totally a great time for two adults with no kids. It wasn't until the end of the entire night that one of the performers jumped off the stage and handed my DS a washboard to play while leading the little parade of kids.....before that there were no "kid" type interactions going on at all.....as was mentioned......just endless corny jokes which were a lot of fun and fantastic singing. There was even a point of the evening where they asked who was celebrating an anniversary. My sweetheart of a DH let them know we were celebrating 27 years.....immediately the actual spot light was put on us and they conversed with us a little about where we were from, our names, how long married and then alongside our seats we danced for a couple minutes along with the other couples that were celebrating. Nothing embarrassing or anything.....just a lot of friendliness and great memories. Another poster put it well in saying you feel really well cared for. We didn't want it to end. It is definitely going to be a must do with each trip from now on!

We have been to DW many times and have never done HDDR. Our trip in Nov. will be our first time. Can anyone tell me if they do anything special for Birthdays? We will be celebrating my daughter's 8th. So excited about going to this show.

I can't speak for all shows, but at our show, they asked specifically about anniversaries; they also asked for whose birthday was on that exact date...we were there celebrating 50th for DH and 11th for DS, but no actual acknowledgment of it during the Hoop show.
