Hello,
I just booked Hoop dee Doo Revue for our trip in May. I was looking at the menu and I have DS4 who is very picky and only eats basic kid food. I remember reading a while back that you can special order something else for the kids? Anyone have any inof on this or know where I can call for such a request??? I did ask when I made the reservation and the CM didn't seem to know. Thanks :goodvibes a bunch.

HDDR shares a kitchen with the Trails End buffet next door, so there is really no need to make your request too far in advance. Stroll through the buffet while you are waiting to be let in and see what looks good to DS(mac-n-cheese is always there as well as pizza, chicken fingers most of the time). When you are seated just ask your server, a resonable request is easy to accomodate.

I wish they would offer an regular childrens meal like the Spirit of Aloha show does. We saw HDDR when DD was 5 and she was very picky and we had no idea that we could have requested different food for her. She ate a tiny bit of chicken and a little corn on the cob. That was it. She wouldn't even try the strawberry shortcake for dessert. I felt like it ended up a complete waste of money for her as the show didn't keep her interest either.

Hi there,
Nice to see someone from my area on here, we are about 1 mile into Loudon county. That is excellent advice, any of those choices you listed will be great for DS. I have to make sure we arrive a few minutes early. Thanks so much!

Your DD sounds just like my DS4 :goodvibes. He is very picky and won't even touch strawberry shortcake either. Luckily is my DD8 usually easy to please. I'm even a bit worried he won't like the show. Did the rest of your family like HDD though?

My DD last year was 3 and LOVED the show and cried when it was over. We didn;t know about special food requests, but she really enjoyed the salad and at most of it herself. LOL! I find that my DD just hardly eats on vacation, so if she eats anything I am happy. We are are the dining plan, and I am thinking this year, I may just share most of our counterservice meals with her and then use her CS to get a kids breakfast to share each morning. Sadly alot of the lunch/dinner CS's for kids is pretty much the same and gets boring after a day or two.

We did the HDDR for our 2007 Thanksgiving dinner. While it does only come from next door, they told me to call a couple of weeks ahead (not WDW dining #, a different one for HDDR) to request the alternate meal for my DD-7 who eats no meat--she got the mac cheese and was welcome to have any other food offered. My mom eats no red meat or fried food and I order a fish meal for her-- she said it was excellent and my aunt is vegan and I ordered her the roasted vegetable dinner which she also loved. Both were of course for the price they paid for the dinner show and it was noted on our ressie. When we arrived our waiter asked who was getting the alternate meals. No problem, smooth and accommodating. I personally wouldn't just ask when you arrive since it isn't difficult to call ahead to let them know as a heads up. It's not like you just drop in to the HDDR ;) And we love the HDDR! I think the food is good and the show is very funny!

Both times we've eaten there, dd was offered kid food. She had mac & cheese one year, and a hot dog last year (w/ fries). We never made any special requests; they offered when we sat down.

We went @easter last year. i just called HDDR the day of and requested mac n chz, chicken nuggets, fries. When our food came to the table -they brought the kids food at the same time. Everything went fine--no problems. WDW dining is prettty good about special requests for kids, dietary problems ...have fun--it's a great show.

I can see why you needed to call ahead of time, you were wanting things that needed to be prepared for you, not items that are already available on the buffet next door. Since the OP is fine with the options at Trails End, she can call ahead if she wants, but if she gets busy or just doesn't want to be bothered it won't be a problem to get items from next door. Even if you just mention getting mac-n-cheese when you check in it will be fine.

True, but my original reason for calling was only the kids meal. We had 15 of us dining, so it wasn't until I called to request the kids meal that I even thought to ask about the other 2. (I actually just assumed they'd be eating the veggie, corn bread and salad...) I still think it is better to request it ahead if possible, since WDW asks that you do. Or did then at least. I will agree though, that they are very accommodating whenever you ask :)

Sounds a lot like Thomas. he hardly eats on vacation. My DD gets so sick of the kid food options. She would rather have a small serving of meat and vegetables. glad to hear your DD loved the show!

Thanks. I will just call ahead to make sure then.

Great, so I should be fine either way.

I'm happy they are able to offer alternative food for kids. My DS is not a big meat eater.

Thanks everyone :goodvibes!!
