Can you give me the good, the bad, and the ugly?

We did it several times in the early 80's and I remember really enjoying it, but it seems that no one will admit to (1) going to it now, and (2) enjoying it.

We are paying OOP, so we don't need the 2 TS credit debate. The adult beverages will make up for the cost! ;)

We went for the first time last May and enjoyed it!

The food was excellent. The adult beverages, even better.

We sat upstairs and liked the view from there just fine.

The only negative was it was freezing in there. I was glad we had sweaters in our bags to throw on.........

Enjoy!

I would give it a "just okay". The food wasn't as great as I thought it would be. The show was good but not as great as I was led to believe. I don't know it just wasn't what I expected. I am glad I did it but probably won't do it again unless a guest really wants to go. After all that I think everyone should try it once.

The show has never changed so if you've seen it once, you've seen it. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. You can get the same food at the buffet next door. It's OK but nothing special.

I have read so many reviews regarding the Hoop Dee Doo review and I never found a person who hated it! Every show and restaurant in Disney has mixed reviews but the worst review I ever saw about the HDDR was that it was just OK..in my book that must be good...for Disney standards! I am taking my kids in August and I am so excited about it! :)

My Dh and I did once just the 2 of us. We liked it and had fun but last summer we did it with our family. My mom, brother, his parents and sister and BIL it was such a blast. We were all cracking up. So I think it depends on your family.

We have done it once and really enjoyed it. Our kids were good ages 8 and 11 to enjoy the show. The food was quite good too. I would not want to go every visit but would not mind going again in the future!

My girlfriend and I saw thew show for the first time together last year. I have seen it multiple times and this was her first. I enjoy the show every time I see it! She says she loved it!

We are going with her mom, dad, & sister this year and I can't wait to see their reactions to the show. The food is good and plentiful.

OP here, our kids will be 5 & 7, suggestions with that information?

Our children were 6 and 10 and they LOVED it! Cracking up the whole time. In fact, DH, who was sure he would hate it also loved it. Good old fashioned fun!

We were there just last week with our 4 and 6 year olds and they really enjoyed it. My 4 year old especially loved playing the washboard at the end. I enjoyed the food, but DH wasn't that excited about it. When the waitress saw my 4 year old not eating (she doesn't eat much of anything) she offered to bring her chicken fingers or mac & cheese which aren't on the menu. She wanted to make sure the children were eating and I thought that was very nice of her. The show was quite fun and I would enjoy going again. DH, on the other hand, said he was glad we went, but now that we have, he doesn't think there's a need to go back.

As far as the seating, I agree that there's not a bad seat in the house. We were upstairs and I really thought that was perfect. The cast members even come upstairs and talk with the audience members sitting up there.

It's fun and well worth it IMHO.

You should take this to the camping forum..you will get lots of feed back regarding the show. Everyone there is happy to admit going to it! From what I understand from a recent post there, it hasn't changed much over the years. We saw it twice back in the 90's...and wouldn't mind seeing it again.:thumbsup2

_____________

we're planning on going in Nov so i'm very interested in this thread :) DH went every trip (maybe every year?) as a kid & really wants to go back.

we plan to start our trip off with it :)

the last time I saw it I also was as a teen in the 80s !:cool1:
I finally talked DH into going last may and he LOVED IT! ! !
DD 11, DS 8, and DD 7 all LOVED IT TOO! ! !
the food was great.....buttery corn bread, roasted chicken and delicious
bbq ribs....for dessert...remember their song?
"we've got straw!
straw berry!
strawberry shortcake!"
They still sing the hokey/corny song and dance but the strawberry shortcake was delicious.
I say go and then you are set for another 10 years. Even though the show is still the same after all these years, it has been long enough now and you will be laughing the whole evening.
we enjoyed it and hope you will too!:thumbsup2

We just love everything about it and make it a point to go every third trip or so.

I agree. I loved it the first couple of times, but it's gotten old. Hasn't changed at all. Jokes aren't funny anymore.

Food isn't anything to write home about. You can get much better fried chicken and ribs at Whispering Canyon. Best thing about it WAS the bread they served. They got rid of that and now serve corn bread.

I say it's worth it once. Since you have a 5 and 7 year old, I say do it. They'll love it. If it's your 1st time, chances are you'll love it as well.
