I will have one night on my own with the kids while hubby is at a conference. Looking for a new meal for us. Kids are 6 and 8. 8 year old is picky eater which makes me concerned for the high price of Storybook. I'll take an Uber - does that get me close to where Hoop Dee Doo is? I'm thinking pricing is similar - can only get Category I for Hoop De Doo.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

We love HDDR plus there is so much to do at Ft. W (playground, WDW stables), so the whole evening is an experience. Uber will not get you close to Pioneer Hall. From your signature, it looks like you are staying at the Dolphin? If so, either take a bus to MK and boat over to Ft. W or take a Minnie Van which will get you closer to Pioneer Hall than an uber could.

Another vote here for HDDR. I did it just last week and it was the highlight of my trip. I did the bus to MK and boat to Ft. Wilderness routing and recommend it, as the boat ride is part of the fun. I got there early and had time to hang out in a rocking chair on the porch, which added to the evening. I had Category 1 seating for the first time, and was at a table right up by the stage, which was fabulous. 6 and 8 seem like the perfect ages to enjoy the silliness of the show.

I vote for HDDR as well. I have been multiple times since 1975 and have greatly enjoyed every show and experience.

Do you get the boat leaving MK or from the TTC? Thinking of adding HDDR on a non-park day coming from Shades and been trying to figure out the best way to get there.

From MK....the boats from TTC (ferry) take to MK

Take the bus from Shades of Green to MK and then take the boat from MK to Fort Wilderness.

Can someone tell me if I do opt for an Uber there, what address do I give? And once dropped off, how do I get to where I need to get to?

They would drop you off at the main resort gate and then you catch the internal bus to take you to the HDDR. I am not sure about the address but I think you would just put in Disney's Fort Wilderness

We just did the Storybook dining a few weeks ago, and it was a fun experience that I'm glad we tried once, but Hoop de Doo is a truly special WDW experience and can be enjoyed again and again!

Can you Uber to WL and then take the boat to Fort Wilderness? It’s a not a long walk to the boats from the main lobby.

We did Storybook Dining when we went in April and loved it! It was so much fun. The evil queen was on point. The food was also very good. My 2 year old was able to find something she liked (they gave us a lot for “free”). I would definitely go back there again!

HDDR would be my first choice. Having a picky eater the menu (Fried chicken). The show is an experience!!!

Just know that if arrive at MK by bus (from anywhere) and leave on a boat (to anywhere) you have to go thru MK security to make the transfer. If you return the same way...same thing again later. You'll need to allow time for this.

Having done both Storybook and HDDR in January (our 3rd or 4th time at HDDR over 20+ years), I'm in agreement with those above who recommend HDDR. It's just too much fun! Also, the food is served in bowls and on platters family style, which makes it easy for picky eaters to take only what they want, and the kitchen is shared with Trail's End, a buffet that has a variety of different offerings - which means that if your 8 year old absolutely won't touch a single thing on the HDDR menu, the CM might (might) be able to get something different for them.

Thanks! Do you know if they have chicken fingers/nuggets in addition to fried chicken?

Don't think they have chicken nuggets\ fingers. If you are going, ask your server since th e HDDR and Trails End are right next door, might be able to find some "magic" happen.

My kiddos LOVE Hoop Dee Doo. Last year we took the boat at MK to Fort Wilderness and it's a short walk from the dock. Very enjoyable ride. However, we did request an Uber from FW back to our resort. The driver can only pick you up at the front/check in area and he got lost trying to do that. We took the internal bus from Pioneer Hall to the front and it was a little confusing, and a bit of a lengthy ride ride with all the stops. I wonder if Minnie Van's could get you closer. IMO It would be worth the cost.
