We "Hoop Dee Doo'd" the week before last. My kids were shocked to hear the theme song...they figured the old Perry Como single their Dad played was a unique instrument of torture known only to them. And now we are all singing it more than usual.
I agree with another poster, this is a splurge, but so is everything at Disney, where the rule appears to be, "Too much food for too much money." Nonetheless, we thought the fried chicken was very tasty, and the beer/wine/sangria are included. Only a couple of gripes:
The meal is served over a fairly tight timeframe, so if "all you can eat" sounds good, it's really not, because the amount of time each course of the meal is available is fairly limited. (Disclaimer: I am not a fast eater.)
We had tables at the upper rear of the balcony, and at first I was a bit ticked off because I thought there'd be no way to enjoy the show from there, but our veteran waitress explained it was better than sitting "down under" the balcony on the first floor. Sure enough, we could see the show just fine. It's odd though that the tables face AWAY from the balcony rail, meaning you must turn your chair around during those portions of the evening when the performers are "on." My kids and wife didn't mind at all (I'm the Eeyore in the group) and obviously it made the server's job very easy.
I am sure we got those seats because we only booked two weeks before-hand, so you will probably have better luck!
There is no way to justify $50 based on the food and drink, so think of half the price being for entertainment, and you can justify it. I was a bit tough on my 9-year old, trying to get him to eat a little more to "justify it..." only to have him lose his entire dinner at 2 a.m.! Ah, parental guilt...
By the way, our server informed us that she was the "newcomer" on the waitstaff with "only" 16 years (she started as a server at the Contemporary), and that the Revue is the "top spot" on the WDW foodservice ladder. She and the servers there obviously really enjoy their jobs!
