Hoop-dee-doo fun for language delayed 4 year old?

Hi everyone,

Dd who will be 4 for her first trip to wdw has a severe language delay. She is at the single word stage and is using more frequently 2 word phrases. Her receptive is a lot better than her expressive. Of course, she couldake a lot of progress between now and our December trip.

My question is the amount of language in the show. Is there a lot of physical comedy and music and dancing to entertain dd?

Also, how is Fantasmic? I am very unsure that dd would find much interesting at DHS.

We are doing ddp because dd needs a lot of time to eat (1.5-2 hrs to eat (apraxia)). We might consider Ohana, WC, California Grill, Citricos, Artist Point.

I am also considering Ohana, WC, California Grill, Citricos, Narcoosees.

I need to make ADR on June 14.

I think fantasmic is awesome! the sights of it is awe inspiring. I just can't handle the crowds, that is the sole reason I do not have it on my must do list. There is plenty of things to do at DHS that is visually appealing, and you just might end up with some pixie dust magic in helping improve some skills.

I am sorry I can't seem to make coherent thought tonight, but wanted to let you know that someone is here and knows you will have tons of fun!

My DD is Non-Verbel and I have to say Hoop-Dee-Doo is one of her most favorite things at Disney. I do pay for the "better" seating because I find she does best when she is as close to the stage as possible.

I just did the Hoop Friday night and I think a language delayed child should have a great time. And I have a 3 1/2 year old niece with Angelman's Syndrome who is severly handicapped and badly speech delayed. I think she would love the music, singing and dancing. She is like your child - we believe she understands a lot more than she can express!

I agree that the better seating is worth it. I We have gone a number off times with a full age range, infants to senior citizens. Everyone loves it! I have truly precious photos of my baby and preschooler laughing while they played a washboard. I think your DD would have a great time!

I also wanted to mention that if you need extra time for your meal, a lot of table service restaurants might be difficult. The signature restaurants are a bit better. For example, when you arrive at the Hoop, the salad will be on your table, along with corn bread. This will be taken away, although I suppose they would leave it if you asked. After an entertainment break, the chicken, ribs, mashed potato, beans, etc are served. You eat these and they are usually taken away before the show starts. But if you are not done, again I think they would leave them.

I have never felt as rushed through a meal in my life as I did at 'Ohana. One course right after another, and things removed even if we asked for them to be left. Hovering waiters at sit downs can also be a problem - they want to turn over the table to increase the number of seatings they can serve, thus increasing their tip income. Be prepared to say that you are not ready to have the table cleared.

The quick service places won't be a problem. Arrive at non-prime times and grab a good table. Then you can take your time with your meal and allow your daughter enough time to eat.

just back from the world myself and I had the oppisite issue. I was having to wait on them. We were ready to get our meal, rather than sit with empty plates, long before they stopped in to see how we were getting along. I felt by the end that I should have warned the waiter/waitress from the start we are quick eaters. Although we don't inhale our food. IDK, we just seemed to sit around staring at walls more often than feeling rushed with our food. (now the characters.. some of those were super rushed.)
