Well I'll be leaving for Disney in 8 days with my mother and my "almost 3" year old daughter. I made a bunch of PS arrangements and was hoping some of you Disney veterans can give me your opinion.

I have a ressie for Hoop de Doo in the middle of our stay. Is it worth the money and is it something my 2 year 11 month old (perfect timing for this Disney trip--she goes free) daughter will enjoy for 2 hours?

Also, does anyone know how hard it is to get there from BCV?

Thanks

Shari

I went twice once when I was young (like 8) and in 2001, It is very loud and very interactive, depending upon how you DD will handle it, it will be too much for my DD, in our next trip (she'll just be over 2)

We went when we were (wow, look at all those "W" words together!) there in 2000. My DD was 4.5 and my DS was 1 year 10 months -- they both loved it!! My DS was (and is) very active and he sat still thru the entire show. They both enjoyed the food and were great kids thru the whole show.

We are going to Disney again in December and are debating this show again. The kids are now almost 8, DS will turn 5 while we are there and our new DS will be 19 months. This time, we're just not sure we can "fit it in".

I think you will love it and your DD will be fine!

We have seen children of every age enjoying the show. We were seated next to a little girl about three last year and she had a blast. She was dancing and singing along. A lot of the jokes will go over her head but that's ok. She will be free anyhow! The cost is a little high so we do not go every trip but we will repeat this wonderful show. Have fun.

Our DD went to HDDR for the first time this past Feb at the age of 2 1/2 and she LOVED it!!! The wait staff was very friendly and offered her mac n cheese in addition to the regular food. The performers and very interactive with the audience and even came up to visit us in the balcony. Two of the performers talked to DD which she thought was cool. At the end of the show they pass out washboards for everybody to join in playing. DD was THRILLED!! The show ended and DD was still pounding away on her washboard! :) There were quite a few toddlers at the show and they all looked like they were having a great time. I would definetly go and it is such a nice bonus that under 3 is free. :)

As far as getting there - do you have a car? We drove our car to Fort Wilderness and caught the internal bus to Pioneer Hall. When our show ended a bunch of buses were waiting to take us all back to the main FW parking lot to drive back to our resort. If you don't have a car you could take a bus to MK and then hop the boat to WL and FW from there. Pioneer Hall is just a short walk from the FW boat dock.

Thanks for all the encouragement. We will not have a car, depending solely on Disney transportation.

I'm thinking we will definitely be going thanks to everyone's rave reviews. Although my daughter is pretty outgoing, she can be overwhelmed at first. But then she gets into the spirit of things so I bet she'll love it!

Thanks again:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :smooth:

When we went we were at the MK so we took the boat to Ft Wilderness from the MK. We went early and the kids enjoyed the animals. After the show, we took a bus from Ft. Wilderness to DD. Some of us stayed to shop and some caught the bus back to the villas.

Okay, now after reading this thread I'm thinking I need to RETHINK my decision on not doing Hoop De Doo on this trip.

Can anyone tell me where I can find out all info on Hoop De Doo? I can't get a search to work here on this board EVER. *sigh*

What I would like to know is the times they have the shows, how much it costs for each, and also anyone know what kind of foods they serve? I ask that last question only because I'd probably not want to pay a fortune for this and then end up with me and DH unable to eat anything. We're both doing Atkins- so breaded things, pasta, breads, & potatoes- are OUT. :)

Let me know?

This is the info from www.wdwig.com

The Hoop-Dee-Doo review is one of the longest running shows at Walt Disney World. There are 3 shows nightly, 5:00pm, 7:15pm, and 9:30pm. The shows last approximately 2 hours.

Entertainment: While you enjoy an all you can eat dinner, you are entertained by good old fashion country western singers, dancers and comedians. Be prepared for slapstick, corny jokes and lots of singing and dancing.

Your meal, brought to your table includes: fried chicken, pork ribs, corn on the cob and strawberry shortcake! Unlimited beer, sangria and soft drinks are also included in the price.

Cost - $49.01 for adults and $24.81 for children 3-11; tax and gratuity included.

Reservations can be made up to 2 years ahead of time! Tables are assigned in the order in which reservations are made. There is 2 tiered seating...the main floor and upstairs in the balcony. Shows can sell out during busy times of the year.

Discounts are sometimes available - Disney resort guests paying with American Express card receive a discount of 20% at the late show. American Express Card Holders not staying on Disney property 10% off 9:30 p.m. show, reservations required.

Special Meals - If you have special dietary needs, be sure to make that clear when you make your reservation. You should be given a phone number to call 48 hours in advance to make arrangements for your meal.

Directions: The show is held at Pioneer Hall in Fort Wilderness

About 6 years ago I took a two year old, and a 6 year old to this dinner show. They both adored it. I dont think you will have any trouble with yours. And plus its Disney so most of the cast understand if the kids need to walk around a bit, and its perfect as far as noise, since its a rowdy show:p

Thanks for all the info!
The meal plan doesn't sound like much we can eat- only the meat and that's it! Can't have corn and definitely not that dessert. Maybe I'll call and see what they can substitute for those with dietary needs. :) Thanks!

They also have a really good salad that comes served in a bucket! The meat and salad could make a meal if you really want to see this show. I have also heard that they can serve fresh fruit instead of the SS cake. Hope this helps.

Do remember that you are paying almost $50 per person and are rushed through your meal. While this is a different dining experience, it is very expensive for fried chicken and corn on the cob, IMHO.

Everyone always raves about this. I went 12 years ago and thought it was Ok, but not worth $50. I don't remember the food being spectacular. Has it changed, or am I one of those that just does not get it?
