Help! Dh wants to do this on our Thanskgiving trip. What is the menu exactly? I've read chicken, ribs, corn and bread. Is that it? The food sounds greasy to me. Is the show worth it if I don't eat much? I doubt my DS will eat the food, either. Do they have anything for the kids?

Hi there...

The Food was not greasy at all.. it was much better than I expected.

On the table was fresh bread, butter and a large salad with a italian type dressing.

Dinner was fried chicken (that was really good) large ribs with a smoky sweet sauce, corn (not on the cob)

For dessert - great strawberry shortcake and the largest cup of coffee around.

I was just going for the show - but was pleasantly surprised at the good quality food offerings.

We loved the food, and didnt find it greasy at all. I thought the fried chicken was the best Ive ever had. Everything else was very good too, however I didnt eat the beans.
My kids wouldnt eat any of that so we were able to order them macaroni & cheese ahead of time. IMO, between the all you can eat food, all you can drink(beer, soda, sangria), and the show, its practically a bargain.

The food is OK, but the show is GREAT. You may wish to make reservations now for a good table. I would bet it fills up on that day.

We just got back on Tuesday. On our way home, everyone talked about their favorite parts of the trip and everyone said the Hoop De Doo!

We loved the chicken! It wasn't greasy at all. The kids did not eat any of it but we also were able to arrange mac-n-cheese.

We loved the unlimited drinks - especially the beer and wine!

The show is great! Loud, plays to the crowd, invites everyone to clap along and just have fun. My DS (2) loved the singing and clapping. My DD (6) thought the whole thing was great. DH and I just had fun.

If you are looking for formal - this is not it. If you are looking for just a good, upbeat time - you don't want to miss it!

We tried Hoop Dee Doo for the first time on our Feb. trip and really enjoyed it so much so that we have reservations for our October visit!

The food was very decent. Our waitress brought our 2 yo DD a bowl of mac 'n cheese that DD really liked. DD doesn't eat meat but liked the mac 'n cheese, beans, corn, and bread. DH and I enjoyed the chicken, salad, bread, beans, and corn. The ribs we thought were a little dry. HDDR is a great experience and is definetly worth a try.

Must you arrange for macaroni and chees ahead of time? Can you see if your kids like the food (chicken) first and then order mac & cheese if not? Are there other kid choices or is that it?

Thanks for the replies! We weren't able to fit it into tight schedule, so we won't be doing it this trip after all. The food sounds better than I thought and we will do it on another trip..

Beer, wine and sangria, included....you don't have to pre-arrange for mac and cheese.

The show is great, it usually is the highlight of the trip. This summed it up perfectly:

its practically a bargain.

Our family spent last Thanksgiving week at WDW. As a special treat, I scheduled PS for our Thanksgiving dinner at H-D-D.

DH & I ate there 14 yrs. ago, on our honeymoon and loved it. This past trip, we wanted to take our DS(7). He loved it!

Ditto on the food. Very good and simple. You never run out!
