Hoop De doo

Yes! The vast majority of reviews are all overwhelmingly positive. HDDR is a definite crowd pleaser. I believe on the Dining plan you can only choose Category 2 seating, but all and I mean all seats have a good view. You will have a great time :)

First, I must say that our family LOVES the HDDR. We rarely go to WDW and miss this show. IMHO, the meal is very good (in terms of getting what we expected -- glorified picnic food served until we need to be wheeled from the table), but the show is the real draw for us. If you like vaudeville schtick, you will probably love it. If not, maybe not.

Having said all of the above, my answer is "It depends on where else you are dining." When we compared it on trips where we ate at higher total priced 2 credit venues, then we chose to pay OOP.

Above all, the entertainment portion of the event must be "of value" to you in order to justify the cost, whether it be OOP or credits.

Hope that helps.

My issues are that my grandson is allergic to beef and hates BBQ or fried chicken. Very Very picky eater.

You can book category 1 with DDP at the last show.

For us, yes, it is worth it. Other people have reported being offered some of the items served at Trail's End (next door, they share a kitchen) to entice pickier kids, things like mac and cheese. Your mileage may vary, of course, but if you nicely explain to your server, I think it is likely.

They have a fantastic vegan portabella mushroom grilled veggie plate if you ask for it. I've had it and it was darn fine!

How old is your grandson? HDDR does not serve beef, so his allergy is not an issue here. I agree with PP, it is possible/likely he will be offered something other than the main food options.
Only you can decide if it is worth it/worth the risk.

We chose not to do it for this trip because of the fact that it uses 2 credits each (DD30, DSIL31, DGD6, DGS2 and myself)....AND also because we did it over 20 years ago and my DS who is now 29 years old was picked as part of the show and that was the best part of ALL (memories and photos)....I don't really recall if the food was worth it or not and I don't remember how much it cost at that time nor did I care...We absolutely enjoyed the experience back then and still have the incredible memories and signed photo given to us!!!!

We did consider MBBBQ for first night but cutting too close in case of travel delays....

It is a must do each trip! It is the one meal I look forward to every year.. We love booking HDDR towards the beginning of our trip, on the 2nd night... it is just a great way to start off the trip with great food and a great show.

We really like HDDR. We do the 8:30 pm show because you get Cat-1 seating with the dining plan. The food is pretty good and the show is fun.

Yes, my family thinks it is worth it to go to this show! However, we have found that it is works out better for us to pay out of pocket for Category 3 than to use two dining credits. My kids prefer Category 3 because it is easier for them to see over the balcony. We always get great service and my kids were included in the show.

My son has dietary restrictions and they were great with him. They offered a wide range of alternatives and made him feel extra special with his special meal. Anyone can request the "diet plate" which is grilled chicken and steamed veggies. My son chose the grilled chicken and they brought him as much as he wanted along with a HUGE chocolate brownie dessert.

The show is the main reason to attend. It always puts a smile on our face and we walk out of there feeling very glad we went.

Considering it includes your dinner, desert, beverages (including beer, wine and sangria) AND TIP, I would say it is one of the few "2 credit" meals that are actually "worth" 2 credits. The "value" of a credit is approx $37 for dinner to break even (if you are paying oop for the dining plan). HDDR cat 2 is approx $62 per adult if you add in 18% tip, it brings you to $73. ($37 x 2 = $74). All of this being said...this is hands down our family's favorite meal in Disney. It truly can't be beat. The food is great, the entertainment is awesome (assuming you like silly, slapstick comedy) and the unlimited beverages really help. lol I can't recommend it enough.

When I booked category 1 was unavailable. What is the difference between category2 and 3?

We are looking forward to trying HDDR for the first time in November. We are among the minority who love SoA -- love the food, love the show. I have been hesitant over the years to book HDDR for a number of reasons. We live in northern MS about an hour outside of Memphis, so we have an abundance of BBQ around here, and w're kind of BBQ snobs. And BBQ is not unique for us. Also, being in the foothills of the Appalachians, there is no shortage of corny, slapstick "Comedy Barn"-type shows -- not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just that, again, it's not unique for us. However, after reading all the positive reviews over the years, and because my parents will be with us on this trip, I decided to book HDDR instead of SoA or WCC this year. I hope we love it as much as we do SoA. I did book Cat 1 seating for the last show with the DDP.
