We have reservations for 6 15.I heard the best way to go there is bus from pop century to all mk and then you take the boat from mk to the wilderness lodge.Thats supposedly easier then driving to wilderness lodge and taking the internal buses. How early should we leave im thinking an hr and half.I alos read that if your late they wont let you in.

Hoop Dee Doo Revue is at the Fort not the lodge. the hour and a half should be fine even with just missing the boat and waiting for the next. it is just a short walk from the boat dock to Hoop. no internal bus needed. if you would drive car to the Fort, you would then need to take internal bus from parking back to Hoop, even Handicapped. there is no need to go to the lodge before getting the Fort

JMO - If you'd like to use your car, it's pretty easy. 6 of one/ 1/2 dozen of another if you ask me. I am directionally challenged and I had no problems.

Just remember if you decide to drive, follow signs to MK and then when you get to the entrance tolls, stay to the right (but not in the bus lanes) as that is where the turn off for the MK resorts will be.

Driving from POP and then taking the internal bus took us only about 35 min. BUT, I would allow a much longer traveling time because you never know what can happen. We ended up being really early and thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing feel of the area and had some wonderful down time. :goodvibes

if you do decide to drive car, remember that it is about a mile from parking lot to where Hoop is held and no car parking or dropping off and then parking car. you can wait as much as 20 minutes for bus and depending on how many people are returning to their sites, bus could make a number of stops on way there.

Just a warning. We gave ourselves 2 hours from departing AKV to get to the show at 8:30 and barely made it. First, we waited about 20 mins for a bus to MK. Once we arrived at MK we made our way down to the boat ramp for FtW. In the span of 50 mins, 3 boats came for WL and not a single boat came for FtW. There was almost a riot at the ramp! Finally, a man in our line walked over to the boat ramp for WL and explained to the captain that we had been waiting for over 45 mins for a boat and we were NOT waiting any longer! He decided to take us over to FtW instead (since there was no one in line for the WL boat!)

Our time breakdown:
Arrived at bus depot at Kidani at 6:30
Bus arrived for MK at 6:50. Stopped at Jumbo house and departed at 7:00.
Arrived at MK at 7:26.
Walked down to bus ramp and arrived in line at 7:30.
Boat finally took us to the fort at 8:17.
Arrived at the marina at 8:27.
RAN to Pioneer Hall podium and did our check in, skipped the picture and got in line for seating. Luckily, there were 20 other people on the boat that were also heading to the show and they were waiting for us. The CM ushered us inside and we sat down, ordered our drinks and then the show started at 8:35. We were still out of breath when it started!!

Moral of the story, give yourself extra, extra time if using disney transportation. I WISH we would have driven..it would have been much easier and way less stressful!!

Oh, and the return home?? There were two buses returning everyone to their resort- Zone 1 bus and Zone 2 bus. We were in Zone 2 bus (Pop was also on Zone 2). We left the fort at 11pm (had to wait for stragglers using the bathroom) and arrived back to Kidani at 12:42am.

yep, really wished I would have driven instead!!

Yikes!

Going home was pretty easy for us. (We drove) We got onto the bus heading back to the parking lot - there were plenty of CM's telling people which bus to go to. Since that bus runs continuously at FW, we didn't have to wait for stragglers. We made a couple stops throughout and were back at our car about 25 mins. after the show let out and then drove home to POP.
To me, the only thing tricky about driving around WDW is that you need to know the area the resorts are in. So, leaving Pop, we weren't looking for signs to Pop, but rather signs for DHS, WWoS etc... Just like when heading to FW, head to the MK area and then start looking for resort signs.

One disadvantage to driving is that I really didn't take advantage of the alcohol included since it was just me and the kids. I had a small bit of sangria and that was it.

OP - If you are already at MK, I would suggest the boat. If you are coming from POP and have a car, you may want to use it. Then you are only having to wait for one mode of transport instead of 2.

Just a note about the internal bus, they always seem to get a bad rap. There are 3 internal routes, that way the camping loops are divided among all buses. ALL 3 buses will get you to HDDR, contrary to whatever signage may be at the Outpost stop all 3 buses go to Settlement(the stop for HDDR). So just get whichever bus to Settlement shows up first. As for not letting you in late, yes, sort of. If you arrive when the cast is "arriving" you will have to wait outside until that bit is over, then you can get in.

I would drive if you can, the internal buses are usually very efficient.

Just to throw in my 2 cents. One other option you have is drive to the TTC, monorail to the Contemporary, and then boat from the Contemporary. Not sure it is your best option since I've never taken the boat from the MK, but it's another option to consider.

I could be wrong, bit don't the boats that service WL also serves FtW. Very boat I've been on to either one has always stopped at the other one. Not to mention that once you are at WL, you can hop in the line for the boat to FtW..
Maybe a boat pilot will come along and clarify for us.

You can take a boat from MK to Ft Wilderness. You could also walk from MK to contemporary and take boat to ft wilderness.

When we were there in Dec 2013, there were two separate boats and two separate lines. The line for WL was on the left of the ramp and the line for the fort was on the right. The boats went directly to each resort only- they did not make multiple stops.

We were even talking to some folks in line with us about just taking the WL boat and waiting over there for the boat to the fort and the captain (for the WL boat) said the line was long and wasn't worth it.

We did attempt all of this on an MVMCP night, so it could have been something that was just happening because of it. I am not sure how the operations run on a normal day.

You can actually also walk fro the WL to the Fort in about 15 minutes

We always drive and have never had an issue. The internal buses at the Fort are reliable and plentiful. On our first visit, we thought we would hop on the boat after the show to git to MK for a bit and it was a huge mistake. Huge lines (I think we had to wait for 3 boats) and just a long boat ride as we made other stops. We always drive from now on. The show is great but not worth a two hour trip both ways IMO.
