Hoop De Doo/polynesian Luau? Too late to book either one?

My dd (6 years) and myself will be making our annual mommy/dd trip to WDW in Jan. over MLK weekend. Jan 13th-19th to be exact. I would love to surprise her with hoop de doo or the luau. Can anyone recommend either one and can you tell me if it's probably too late to book or could I still get lucky and get a decent spot.

It's not too late for the Hoop Dee Doo. My friend made ressies at HDD a week before she went to WDW. She just came back from a 7 day stay. I don't know about the Luau.

We booked the Luau less than a month before our June trip. Unfortunately they cancelled the show because rain was predicted the 2 nights we tried to go.
