I know that HDD is much more entertaining (at least I think it is), but which one do you all think the kids would enjoy more? I have a ds who is nine and a dd who is three. We are going in october. I would love to do both, but can't see using my ts for both since they are probably somewhat similar. i do'n't hear too many people talking about Mickey's BYBQ. Is it not that great?

We love the Hoop Dee doo and go every year. We did go to Mickeys Back yard BBQ once. We really did not care for it.The food wasn't all that great and it is outside(it was 98)and it was crowded, the kids had a hard time seeing the charcters, they dance around the front and the other kids push alot (so do the parents) to see them. If you are looking for a meal to see Mickey and friends, I would recomend Chef Mickeys( I believe it is only one table service). There they come right to your table and the food is much better. Good luck and I hope you have fun at wich ever one you choose

I'd love to hear more about MBYBQ. I don't really have an interest in HDDR but thought my kids might enjoy the BBQ. I've got a while to decide though. We don't go until 2010.

We brought our 14 month old and not yet 3 year old to the Hoop Dee Doo and they both loved it... They smiled and clapped almost the entire time... The food is very good and the atmosphere is so much fun... Our server was terrific... We love that there is assigned seating (BBQ does not have assigned seating)... So it does not matter when you show up... Your table is your table.... People come really early to get on a line... No reason... We got there about 30 minutes before to do pony rides.... The pony rides are right near the entrance to the Hoop Dee Doo... We purchased the Tier 1 tickets because we wanted our little guys to be able to see and boy did they... We had a great table... So worth the money...It was a really fun night for all of us!

we have done both many times and much prefer hoopdedoo, corny as it is.....we love it (DD5.loved it at 3 and at 4 too)
bbq is like a freeforall! Huge space, country band on stage, open dance floor with cutsie line dancing for kids with goofy minnie mickey and friends in cowboy style costumes, GREAT photo ops but CHAOS!
Picnic tables lined up in long rows, hard to find seats due to mob scene.
Ppl have "their belongings"holding a seat while theyre up chasing the characters for a pix so good seatings tricky to find unless u look far far away from the action.
Food was BASIC picnic style, focus on ...BASIC,,,
hot dogs, beans, corn on cob, cornbread, messy ribs, lemonade, salad and ice cream. All buffet style.

We will eat whatever, were NOT picky so it was fine for us, and we do WDW so often that we like the different experiences so we have chioces.(we have done everything a few times!)
so in JMHO Hoopdee is nicer but try em both just for the experience.

almost forgot
easiest way by far to the hoopdee is to take the boat to fort wilderness FROM MK!!! bus scene is confusing and TIME CONSUMING, if u take a bus leave an hour and 15 min before your dinner spot for hoopdee

There is one exception to this rule. If you are going to HDDR from DHS, the bus will drop you off at Pioneer Hall. It stops first at WL, but goes directly to PH. I had heard this before last year's trip, but no one could confirm. Well, I can confirm.

My friend just returned last week from Disney and she did not like Mickey's BBQ, at all! She was so upset that she used two dining credits for it! She said it was chaotic and the food was dry and undercooked..meaning the chicken  ..it was bloody! I am doing the Hoop Dee Doo in August and it is one of the only dinner shows that consistantly has good reviews! Just based on her review do the HDDV! Her kids were 10, 7 and 4! Have a great time!

Hoop-dee-do for sure. Try, if possible, to go to the last show on Sunday. Very limited crowd. In our experience, when we do it on that day and time, the place is only half filled.
